hi guys, just a quick question about optimate chargers. ive got the rsv hybernating over winter and have put it on the optimate charger, only thing is that the only electric supply i have to my garage only comes on during the night (bit of sneaky wiring connected to the outside lights!) :devious this wont affect or damage the battery in any way would it if the electric keeps coming on and off?

does the optimate req switching on when the power has been disrupted i have an oxford optimiser and you need to press a mode button to get it working

I know that for about the first 30 mins or so the optimate "tests" the battery to check the condition, from there it starts either trickle charging or full on charge depending on whats needed?? If the power is on for the whole night then off in the morning i think it should be fine, if it clicks on and off regularly then it may not get a chance to do its "thang" properly!!!:thumbup

should be ok like that....the power coming on will simulate you switching it on.think it only takes an hour or two to do a charge from flat so overnight will be fine

It will be fine, as long as the Optimate III or IV is connected to the bike's battery before the power is switched on, then the checking and charging proceedure will start correctly.

It's only when the Optimate is switched on before connecting to the bike that will cause the Optimate to incorrectly check the battery

sweet, cheers for the info guys, the charger ive got just runs off the mains straight away, you dont need to click a button. hopefully it wil be doing its "thang" properly!
