HOWEVER!!! As usual, nothing goes smoothly and one of the allen headed bolts that secures the hugger was seized and the head has snapped off, f*cking nightmare! I though i could get away without it but the hugger is rubbing slightly on the chain side of the tyre due to not being secured by all 4 bolts.....:rant:rant

I'm not even going to attempt drilling it out as I KNOW i will f*ck it up.....trip to the garage unfortunately.......:rant

Looks nice, didnt even notice mine was carbon until I washed the bike for the first time, mine has the Aprilia on both sides :)

Think milles should come with this type of hugger

niiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiice .....................Do you know what I could almost come round to liking "Blue" Ape's :)

That looks well nice, a fine piece of carbon fibre you have there mate.

Bikes looking good now, what else you got planned for it?

keep spending like you have and you could have had an RSV4!:biggrin,knew i should have swapped you for my Gixxer! looks good mate!:thumbup

If its original aprilia carbon, get it clear-coated or it will fade sooner or later :D

To get the bolt out its realy not that hard, you can buy bolts with reverse thread (dont know how exacly its called in eng) it costs less than 3 pounds for a set. Then you just drill a small hole to get the reverse thread bolt in and start screwing it, it takes less than 5min.

Generally known as a reverse tap, or a bolt extractor...... cost beans mate, just make sure the hole you drill is straight. and when undoing.... undo 2 turns then tighten 1 turn, undo 2 then tighten 1 etc

Hope that helps... :thumbup

I have the same problem mine have not snapped the alen bolt has rounded off so i will have to weld a nut on top and then with a bit of luck it will come out:angry

Try tapping with a hammer on the allen head, it will reform the profile somewhat. You may have to tap the allen key into the socket too after you've done that. Also tap on the allen key as you try to undo it :thumbup

I've just had the same thing happen on the other side of the swingarm; one of the bolts that hold the brake cable and speed sensor cable retainer in place has sheared. Grinded it down a bit but when ever I try and drill it the bloody thing slips and digs into the softer alloy, i'm making a right mess, luckily it's not on show though

lee if the hex bolt head is intact just cut a slot with a hacksaw blade and use a big flat blade screwdriver to unscrew :)

What tyre is that Andi??? looks well worn lol

Ha Tim mate......yeah that's still the tyres from the ring last year!! I asked someone who can actually ride a bike quick to take round so i could pretend it was me!!!:devious:devious

Oli mate......i don't how that stuff got there!!!:biggrin

Alan mate, not alot left to do now, set ASV's and rearsets!! and that'll just about do it!!.....:thumbup

Scott buddy, like i've said before the Blue ones are fast as f*ck........:devious

Booley bud.......it would've saved me a fortune:biggrin:biggrin

I've had this on mine since i've had the bike which is why i have not been able to fit a hugger. they look like they have ALL snapped inside.

have been told the swing arm has to come off to do a proper job on it and get it right. So balls to that i'd rather have no hugger than go thru all that hassle.:eatcorn

Stripped bolts.

Better to take action before this happens. Use anti-seize at installation and follow the torque chart.

All mine snapped off mate and I did all mine with the swing arm fitted.

Yeah it's more difficult to do but not impossible.

If you want we can meet up and I'll lend you my Heli Coil kit so you can sort them out?

Alan
