03 reg mille?

The bike appears to be a 2000 model standard RSV Mille registered in 2003. Not sure why the frame is black though as it should be silver. It's also got 2001 onwards underseat side panels and tank

if you want to date the frame mate.....tell me what the 10 th digit of the frame number is.....i can date it for you from that!!

grifffer!!

I wouldn't touch that with a barge pole.

Possibly a horror story waiting to explode, that.

Seen it on Ebay,
This is my take on it.
The frame is an original black 2003 not a 2000, you can tell from the swingarm pivot.
The fairing decals are RSVR/Mille R, circa 99/00 you can't see it but it says mille R on the front nose cone.
And the seat is Mille R.
Everything alse apart from the frame, tank and underseat panels are 2000.
I was going to HPI check it but it looks like its been a 2000 MilleR built into a 2003 frame , minus the ohlins shocks and OZ wheels.
If the frame is clean it won't be picked up on a hpi check.
I can only think of one reason why someone has done this!

i cant find it on ebay but if its near manchester looks just like one my mate went up to see...needless to say he walked...all depends how much you can get it for...just as long as you know what your buying:eek:

2003 APRILIA BLACK

that might help

I wouldn't touch it but looking at the bidding it looks like there are plenty that will !

it's a bitsa.but there are plenty of bikes like this, the owner has either crashed it or decided he likes the look of the later bikes. then had to add other stuff to put the side panels on. does it matter though, as long as its straight and in good mech condition then you would only worry if its a short term purchase and you need to sell it on. its not like you're gonna be doing a concourse with it

The bike is a bitsa because it has prob been stolen at some point, it looks like it was once a 99/00 R with Ohlins ond OZ. these have gone replaced with showa and brembo and a nice undamaged not recorded 03 frrame , so yes it does matter because if you didn't know what you were looking at you could easily be £2k out of pocket when the police come and take it away from you!

I agree. There's something decidedly fishy about this bike.

looks like its been built into a later frame...be interesting to date the engine and swingarm as well....any way i have asked a question asking if he knows the history on this bike as its a bitza and listed the 03 frame early fairing , later side panels...lets see if he has the balls to print it

using that search 3003 aprilia black...theres a nice tuono racing for sale but its 6 grand:eek:

Dear p13gsxr, Hi do you know the history on this bike...??? i ask this as the bike seems a bitza..03 frame ..98-00 fairing...01-03 side panels etc thanks Mark - redratbike

Dear redrat bike, nothing he gave me the hpi report he said it was all clear. I got the bike from frank shephard motorcycles sold it to me as a 03 I did not know all this, but i am moving it on as i have now got a zx 12 but thanks mark for the info - p13gsxr

troule is ..to someone who doesnt know these bikes it looks good...but to us as aprilia anoraks it rings alarm bells straight away....it could be a genuine build up of straight parts..

I would have thought a dealer would have picked up on it, but just had a look at the website Chinese Motorcycle Specialists !

so everyone on here has completely standard bikes then? obviously it is approach with caution, but i know people who have added rear seat plastics from later models on various bikes, later fairings on fazers, later mirrors that are longer on various bikes. Why make such a fuss. as long as all the numbers DO check out.

i make you right ...like i siad it could all be straight not stolen ) parts...i know a racer who has enough spares for two and half bikes

But it's when someone advertises it as an 03, and half (or more) clearly isn't.

It would be the validity of the replies to these questions that would indicate to me whether someone was playing with any sort of straight bat.
