Been out today service light came on,going to do the basics myself, oil, filter ,plugs etc.

Which oil does everyone use? also best place to buy.

cheers murf.

I use silkolene comp 4 15-50. i buy it from my local guy though so can't help you there.

Oil is like Women and Tyres,

Find one you like and stick with it, Viscosity is Important in the twin though I use Rock Oil :)

Approx how much oil does the Rsv Hold, wanted to know for when i do a oil change.

Cheers :thumbup

Hein Gericke do a 20/50 specifically for V Twins..So it says on the tin...Can't remember how much..Sorry

Probably not necessary to use the ultimate oil Mark, I can guarantee my local Aprilia dealer would use Shell 10-40,as they put that in everything they sell.

They are a complete bunch of T****rs tho' :jack

As to Halfords own, well it's oil and it works in my Audi, as long as it meets the m/cycle standard it will be as good as any other.

The only benefit from the more exotics seems to be you can leave it in longer and it massages the ego cos' you think you have something special ( whether needed or not) as you just paid thru' the nose for it.

Just my 2p's worth ( now waiting for the howls of anguish from people paying £50+ a time :nana )

Cheers for your advice chaps!

Ian i know where your coming from, i only had an oil change back in march when the bike was serviced but there was a lot of moisture that came out due to it not having a service for about 2 years. Ive done a couple of thousand miles on it since and wanted to change it again for peace of mind, then i know i got a engine full of clean oil.

this is pretty cheap from M+P, not sure if it includes delivery though.

well mine has Motorex 15 50 semi synth and it seems to work. I usuaslly change the oil evefy 5000km 4l costs around 40eur up here.

I've been using the original AGIP 15w-50, expensive here and Mobil1 is less, (here, any road) and very good according to the press I've read, possibly better than AGIP, but with no direct test....

I've had a good run with the AGIP, just trying to save for other bits to bolt on:biggrin

My oil used.

I find Q8(Kuwait) oil in 10 50 synthetic from local oil dealer Caldo(St.Helens)spot on.No clutch slip(synthetic sometimes causes slip)motor sounds great.AL
