Hi again, thanks for your help.

Yep, diaphragm was fully inside out, I have put it back as it should be, like you say about 8mm thick. Fluid was at then at below min so topped up to mid way between min and max. Do you think that could have been it. Won't be able to get out on it again till weds but hopefully sorted!

Might well be sorted then!!

Best off not filling the r/voir up to max leave about 2/3rds full ( same as oil sight tube)

If this doesnt work then take the clutch plates out for inspection and if the frictions are within tomerance and the steels not warped then I would suggeest roughing up the steels with course sandpaper giving them a good wash afterwards and getting rid of all the swarf then assembling the clutch as it came out. If the springs are short to tolerance put 2 washers infront of the spring retaining bolts and try from there as without sufficient spring pressure the clutch can slip.

Yep, i only filled half way between min and max so should be fine. Will hopefully be ok then.

If not, the only thing I can think of would be the oil I'm using. The aprilia dealership I went to recommended Motul 5100 ester 10W-40 4T and could this cause the clutch to slip if it had been using 15W-50 up until then (I have no idea what the previous owner used, probably olive oil looking at the rest of the bike)

Basically, should I stick some semi-synth 15-50 in before dismantling the clutch or should that be my next point of call like you suggested above?

cheers

Normally the problem occurs if the you use Semi and the next change use Fully synthetic and vice versa.

Just out of interest does the clutch slip happen when the bike is hot or more or less straight away.

I was going to say straight away, but it is definitely worse when it's hot.

Also, I let a friend have a go today and he didn't report any slippage so the temp could be a factor...what would this indicate?
