Oil in the airbox

I was checking my airfilter and when I removed the top cover there was some oil residue in the bottom of the tray  should I be worried ?

:confused Hmm, its not been cleaned with something dodgy has it? You are only supposed to blow these filters out with air but it could be that someone has used something in the past to either to wipe around in the box or on the filter. I suppose the fact that there is a drain on the filter housing suggests that its not unheard of to get some debris in there. As long as its on the "dirty" side of the filter I wouldn't worry too much and just monitor it.:thumbup

The filter is as new BS. I've cleaned the tray once before, but there is more in there when I checked it yesterday :dunno does it blow back through the carbs :dunno

Sprocker,

Oil in the airbox is very common, they all do it. Its generally cause by over filling with engine oil. If i remember correctly the oil only has to show half way up the filler pipe.

Clean it out and dont worry about it !

Rgds,

Ollie

Has yours had the air box mod sprocker :dunno, and are you going to do it, just wondering as i'll be attempting mine soon :thumbup

Most bikes will do it with the standard airbox, especially if the oil level is more than half-way up the tube when you check the level.

If you run a Renegade style airkit, you will normally find the vent tube is either re-routed to the front sprocket to lube the chain, into a Stella can or into a small breather filter like mine.

There's no carbs Sprocker, its fuel injection bud. The oil level thing that Ollie mentioned sounds most likely. Half way up the pipe is spot on as that is just below the max level marker.:eatcorn

Nothing to worry about Sprock, just keep the oil level half way up the pipe as V8 mentioned and you will be fine, stop panicking man:whatsthat
