my local dealer only has an oil filter for the 98 mille. Is it the same as one for an 03 rsvr?
I imagine it would be but I want to make sure
cheers peeps.

i seem to remember being told by a dealer that at some point they changed the filter to a larger one, can't remember who told me or what year it affected. worth investigating.

Dealers do fit the newer, longer filter at service times along with the new filter cover.

Any idea why.................everytime i get an oil filter its the original size one....i got an 04 model rsvr

Do you have it serviced at an Aprilia dealer?

All bikes should have the larger capacity filter and filter cover fitted as service time. Apparently there were a few cases of engine failures due to poor lubrication and they have fitted them as a precaution. I can dig out the part numbers for you from my last invoice if you want?

Shouldn't make any difference what year but yours is the same year as mine anyway....

IF you would find that part number that would be great...:thumbup

Ok - these are the parts that form the complete modification kit:

1x AP0650500 - O-Ring 59,52x2,63"
1x AP0610233 - Filter cover
2x AP0840880 - Hex socket screw M6x30
1x AP0956745 - Filter

Came to around £18 in total at dealer rates

another question now, what grade oil?

I was going to go for fully sinthetic 10w 40 but i've just noticed my haynes manual suggests 15w50

Semi synth is generally the way to go but some do run fully synth at the risk of clutch slip

I use Mobil 1 15w/50 Racing 4T 4ltr pack from my local bike shop......no problems with the clutch at all
