hi to all
new on this site and hopefully getting a rsvr soon but i need to service my mates 2002 rsvr on sat, what oil do you guys recommend fully or semi synthetic
thanks in advance

I too would like to know the answer to this (if its the same on an rsv). And what grade, 10w-50 or 15w-50?

Ta,

Anton

Ive just changed the oil on mine today.
On other bikes ive allways used 10/40 semi but the book says 15/50 and the only one i could find was full synth so i thought id give it ago and hope the clutch didnt slip.
Ive just been out for a good pootle and theres no sign of any clutch slip

i use 10/50 fully synthetic, the last number (50) is the important one - its the viscosity equivilent at 100 degrees c

I've always used Putoline Syntec 15/50 Synthetic.

Not Syntec Plus fully synthetic as it has an extra additive in it that can cause issues with clutch slippage.

Never had any problems using this oil over the last 5 years.

Stick with 15/50.

10/40 is lighter and only really recommended over 15/50 for use in cold climates AFAIK.

I've also heard folk say the 10/40 makes the top end sound noisier but can't really comment on that myself.

put 15/50 in mine runs sweet, no problems at all, i had been told that 10/40 could create a slipping clutch? you guys may know more than me on that one :dunno
