I've noticed a couple of threads on oils over the last couple of months and don't know if this is of any use to somebody. I know there's a debate between fully and semi synthetic in our V60 engines but as I say it might be of use to somebody. A friend of mine that has just given up his bike shop and his hobby of racing Ducati's has a bit of oil surplus to requirements. It's Shell Advance Ultra 4T. Here's some sales blurb about the oil.
The oil is billed as the ultimate 10W-40, Fully Synthetic motorcycle oil providing the ultimate level of engine protection and cleanliness for all modern high performance 4-stroke engines. Shell advance Ultra 4T oil leads to very reliable clutch and gearbox operation. :dunno
Shell Advance Ultra Oil 4T exceed the requirements of leading motorcycle manufacturers and is endorsed by Ducati and KTM. A 4 stroke oil that exceeds
JASO MA and API SG.
This stuff is on the bay of fleas at the mo at over £10 per litre but he is selling a box of 12 x 1 Litres for £36 :devious I don't know what the p&p would be on a case but could find out or pickup would be possible. I'm going to chuck some in mine tomorrow and see how it goes.

Pretty sure that's what I use in the SV,if so I payed around £30 for a can last time round. Assume that is a 4 litre can.

As an oil it seems to do the job but I did think about trying a 15/50 for the Mille next time as that's what Rotax specified.

spooks - have you managed to get some in yours yet ? if so what you think ?

Wes, (Killa) I've always used semi (Shell VSX) in mine as recommended by a mate of Griffs from our neck of the woods called Adam from Leigh, he does the spanner work for the Aprilia test/demo fleet in the UK. I chucked some of this fully synthetic in, with a filter change, and to be honest I can't tell any difference, I haven't had any clutch slip after a good blirt out to the Pondarosa last Sunday. I can only speak for myself and my experiences as I've only used semi before, but can understand redratbikes concern.

Usualy you get clutch slip with full synth only when the bike is cold, so for the first few minutes then its oke.

I used full before and now semi. The bike works fine with both, but as far as I remember with full synth the gearbox was a bit smoother, both oils were from the same brand Motul and both 15w50. So dont realy know what will go in next :)

iv'e run fully synth in mine for 2 years, not a problem.
