As above, im looking to replace my 02 Sachs spring with a better suited spring for my weight. By my crude calculations im looking for pt# 1091-36-105. Which should be 160mm length, 57mm dia. And 105 Nm.
Exactly what I did and it allowed me (a friend) to set my sag correctly, it made the bike soooooo much better and the spring..... £55 I thought it was great value for what you get from it. You will need some clamps to compress it enough to put it back together.
Champion! Im 16stone in my play suit so I reckon that should be about right? Do you definitely need to compress the spring to fit it because I've had the Sachs one on and off no bother but I know it may have compressed some what over the years. I measured the shock and a 160 mm spring should sit in and be able to get the check nuts? Anyhoo where die you source your spring from mate?
I just phoned a ohlins dealer who put me in contact with my local guy who was brilliant, he knew his stuff and got the spring to me in 24 hrs.
The spring did need a bit of squeezing but was ok really.
Mine is 1091-37/95 I weight 14.9 with gear on with is about 95kg I'm guessing I have got lucky with my spring? It does feel far to hard though so will check the sag, fingers crossed..
Woodz im no expert but from what I've read the standard spring on both the Sachs and ohlins unit are 95Nm which is good tor around 13 13.5 stone rider. I've known mine was a bit soft for a while but with the roads being the way they are it seemed to make more sense but I definitely have trouble holding a line ie it wants to run wide and it can wallow on long fast bends so time I got it sorted. You just sort of get used to something and ride around it eh?
Your sag will tell you whether your spring's correct. If you've got little to no static sag and too much laden sag which I have plus the main give away on mine is ive got pre load wound up max!!
I haven't got the figures to hand but is that def your spring rate mate? The second number 37 should be a 34 for a 95Nm spring......I think?
