has anyone got there steering damper off at the mo, i dont think mine is working correctly/providing enough damping , i have took it off and on the hardest setting i can still move it by hand , there is some resistance and it does change if you adjust the setting , when on the bike the res is less noticeable but on my old bike i had a sprint damper on and on full i could just about turn the bars . would adding a bit of oil help i mean topping it up

I've got mine off at the moment (2003 mille) and just tried moving it on maximum - struggled to move it. Mine has 19 clicks.
If you can move it easily, pressuming you're not a body-builder(?), then it probably needs a service/topping up...as you say.

no not a body builder well not the sort that works out in the gym pie and chips type yup
have been looking for a online manual or exploded diagram to see what goes where but no joy so far ,thought putting in a bit of oil might be the easiest first option as a service is about £65-70

I had a similar experience with my damper, it didnt seem to be damping much on full clicks, so I sent it off to Harris to get it overhauled. I was quite surprised when they rang me and said was I sure I wanted to go ahead with the work as the damper was about 97% OK. The chap was very helpful and said the damping issue was probably more down to suspension set up.
I also beleive that the standard ohlins dampers do not dampen as much as aftermarket ones, I had an R1 and purchased a new ohlins damper to put on it and like your sprint damper, I couldnt move the bars when on full clicks.
There is someone on Ebay that can upgrade your origonal Ohlins and make it like your sprint damper, If I remember correctly he charges £50 plus postage. :)

thank i suppose the best thing to do is get it checked by someone in the know but i would rather take it in person than post it so next thing is does anyone know of anywhere in notts that would have an idea if it was in need of sorting

well i rode the bike to work twice without the damper on and i can tell a difference mainly at low speed steering was very light put it back on at dinner and back to normal tonight , have rode with a damper on for the last 10 years so prob while it felt so wierd
