Ok so picked bike up 3 days ago and on the first night i rode around 120miles all motorway and about 10 miles into this the bike cut out for a few seconds (dash stayed on) it was like you had hit the kill switch, at this time i was fecking around trying to get to grips with all the controls and i thought i may have hit the kill switch anyways bike ran find for remaining 110miles no issues. So next day a further 200 glitch free miles were covered at all differnt speeds mostly around motorway speed.

So yesterday and today i had been checking the bike over mainly looking at the rear brake, i did however check the brown connector all looks fine and i also checked the charging circuit with my multimetre and its up around 14.4v when the bike is running so all seems good.

Now tonight i was making my run to work for the week and around 60miles into the journey i am coming out of a 30mph zone and giving it some revs nothing major and the thing cuts out in with the clutch let it out still wont go nearly down to a crawl and then hit the starter and away she goes. Now through this the dash stayed lit, then around 3miles later she gave a little splutter no engine cut then for the next 20miles it was fine then cut again for a few seconds and it started itself whilst in drive. Bike then ran fine till work which was around 15miles more, so get to work switch off the bike then around 10mins later i go to start it and now when i switch it on it lights up and does the dash checks then comes up with ECU and like a connection symbol which i assume means plug in for diagnostics. Anyway it wont start or do anything in this state so anyone got any ideas what could be wrong and what needs to be done??

One other one the bike is fitted with a meta 357 alarm imobiliser are these likely to cause problems that would give this ECU in the Dash, if so is there a way to remove them??

Nearest decent Aprilia dealer is 70miles away in Dundee do i need to get the bike down to them??

Any help as normal much appretiated.

On a positive note when she was running it was fecking brilliant smile2 again but you know what like your head goes when you get problems with a new bike its hard to not be thinking about the thing cutting out sad33

Cheers

Have the problems just started since fitting the alarm? It could be a dodgy/loose connector somewhere.
No doubt a more knowledgable member will assist better than me

Cheers folks for all the replies some good help there so thankyou.

Yeh ha the T lives to fight another day

Hector you were correct it was one of the connectors on the left side of the tank the main power feed for the dash although it wasnt the power, when i broke the connector a couple of the pins were all green. So a spray of contact cleaner and make and break the connection a good few times and its all working fine.

Also i removed the meta alarm i did this first incase it was at fault pretty straight forward to remove, cant see why insurance companies go so mad for them, if the theiving buggers wanted the bike it would take all or around 20mins to remove the alarm. So folks dont be worried about taking it out.

Now when she started up the next thing i noticed was the words service at the bottom even though i reset the service indicator via the diagnostics menu. Anyway i reset it again and have not seen it but bike has only been running for around 15mins.

So a happy bunny now as this connection was hopefully causing the sudden loss of power when riding well her is hoping.

Cheers again.

Pleased you managed to sort it.
I get the service light on now & again for no apparent reason. Fickle things these T's

glad you got it sorted. i also have the service light come on, but only if i don't start the bike within about 30 secs to a minute after switching ignition on.

Fickle? Bike's definitely female....( and in case any wooomans on here, then the bike's are definitley male)
