oh my fxxkin god my spragg clutch has gone

Well i got the sprag out today...

No "obvious" huge damage, the casing is a little scored and the spring that holds the actuall sprag rollers in was really loose.

HI all hi had the same problem the spring on my sprag was to loose so i cut 20mm off and put it back on it runs fine now its worth a try so you can save some cash

yeah i was looking at it and thought it might be ok if i was to effectively recondition it using a new spring band...

I would probably give it a go but seeing as im going to be selling it i should do it right i guess, BWM Sprag and new casing for it and it should be good to go.

Still... call to the Griffmeister tomorrow

yes ok you see more ducatis on the back of vans than any other bikes best thing about ducs is they are easy to over take on
one wheel :nana

It seems like it's most often the spring that goes - how did you reconnect the spring after cutting the 20mm off?

you have to fined the join and undo it it just twists apart cut thi biger end off and screw it back together mine is fine saved me bying a new one

i would but the housing is scored... better replace them really

Stil, the sprag gear is fine!

I now how have a good spare sprag & housing by doing just that.
Shorten the spring by 30mm and clean up the inside of the sprag housing with 800/1200 grit wet and dry (you never know it might come in handy one day) :)

I know this is an old thread but Just wanted to add that the fly wheel should be fairly easy to get off if you have enough heat. I used a bosch electric paint stripper and aimed it down the hole in the flywheel/ crankshaft, for about 15 mins. If you use a naked flame this may be dodgy as it may be possible to ignite the oil. You can smell the locktite when it begins to melt, smells different to oil. Inserted the bolt, turned it and off it came. Didn`t even need to stop the engine from turning. Aiming heat at the flywheel itself didn`t seem to work for me.
