Odometer Mileage

Hi All,

I work away offshore, and one trip away forgot to attache my Optimiser to my battery. So when i returned the battery was flat.
Only other problem if you could call it that. Is that my Odometer managed to zero itself. At first i thought it was just the trip A and Trip B, but no the actual Odometer has zero'd itself.
The bike now reads 457 miles instead of 7457 miles.
Has anybody else come across this before and will it be a problem if i go to sell the bike on.

Don't worry, they all do it! I've just bought an '05 plate from a dealer with 481 miles on the clock (it's actually dine about 14k) - it's a common problem with them - just keep as much paperwork as you can to prove the actual mileage & you shouldn't have a problem selling it - anyone who's buying one should be aware of it

Oh damn, really? I've been reading bits on here & I just assumed they all did it - it's a new shape one, how do I know if it's gen 2? the dealer told me the battery had gone flat at some point & that reset the odometer reading...

My factory (2nd generation) had the same problem! bought it with 1800 miles on the clock, dealer said the clock had reset due to a flat battery but milage was 16K ! All the previous mots and servivce record and bits of paperwork confirmed 16k was correct! So as long as you have all previous mots etc you will be ok selling it!

Mines was the same went into dealers wi 11000 came oot wi 1 if you dicconect the battery this happens...

i've disconnected mine loads of times, never reset
i thought only the first new models did that 04 orange indicaters?

Mines has the clear ones maybe it happens if the battery and the dash are disconnected at the same time??? that was what my bike went into the dealers for and still has a dodgy dash......

It affected bikes manufactured in late 03/2004 mostly. Most were fixed under warranty with the updated version.
Mine was replaced around mid 2004 for the same issue at first service so for a genuine 2005 model I would have thought it would have the updated version. Maybe there were still a few in the parts bin.
