Looks kin awesome. Grimsel is one of the three passes that basically do a lap of the swiss alps, the others are Susten and Furka, and they're all like that. Went there when I was about 9, always wanted to go back and do it on a bike.:inlove

did those 3 in one day a couple of years agoa and it was one of the best days of my life - pity it was in a honda s2000 and not on the bikes, but at least it's sowed the seed to go bike someday on the aprilia.

we stayed in interlaken and had a superb week's holiday. the train ride up the jungfrau via the inside of the eiger is awesome, and paragliding over interlaken was superb. i would highly recommend the place for a base for a weeks riding holiday with a few bits of days off to do plenty of other things :thumbup

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=uFBudD4HG_U&feature=related transfagarasan on top gear. even if it's with cars you should see it, it says how it was made and it shows it to you from a helicopter.

and a bit off-topic, some girl-bikers form romania. my girlfriend's there, too, her name is danutza :http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=8UJe0h_22Mc&feature=related

Was that you with the headcam then danish :devious that looks a great road :doug

The headcam is from Pete's brother on a Tuono, the tricolour Mille was mine (now written off sadly) and the Yellow Mille at the front is Pete's 02 R with a host of tasty upgrades.
Note we tried to hide the Honda :)

If you look at other related videos of the trip, you'll see that we experimented with different mounting points i.e. head, nose fairing, air ducts, rear mounted.
This was with a bullet cam attached to a DV recorder in the tank bag. If you look at the following years related video 2008 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=zusrIQuWOyQ&feature=channel (where I'm riding the GS) we had a different bullet cam recording direct to a solid state recorder. The picture doesn't come up as well on YouTube as on personal computer.
We just duck tape the camera and it's mounts on, and tape the wire to the fairing, making sure you've got enough so that it allows suspension travel, but not so much that it gets tangled in anything!

I prefer the low down mount as it gives the feeling of speed in relation to the movement of other static objects such as white lines:
See here for the Tuono on the same trip: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=eYYkHknu-2o&feature=channel

I personally prefer mounting it low down on the side fairing as you get the feel of the lean of the bike, however are impaired by the mudguard and front wheel. Mounting on the helmet allows the viewer to see more of what's going on around, but you don't get the same feel of the movement of the bike imho.

We've been discussing this year's trip, and are certainly keen to do the Grimsel pass again.

We did Grimsel, Splugen (sp.), Furka and the Julier pass amongst others, the latter wich went from this on Lake Como

in approximately 45 minutes - it was fecking freezing!

Any interest in this years trip?

European fun

Must say out of the trips I have done over the last 10 years, this one does stick as one of the most memorable when it comes to the roads.
Think I might have to go and do it again soon. :biggrin
