Hi guys Im open to suggestions as to why my 2003 mille isn't firing up?

At the end of last years summer it had new battery, starer solenoid, sprag clutch and a whole host of different things. it was kept on an optimate all winter and turned over quite strongly until the inevitable happens and the battery dies, so with a booster pack continued to try and eventually gave up.

It didnt try to fire once, and the smell of petrol never happened either, so strait away i suspect a fuel issue.

summer is soon to be upon us and already craving to get on the bike pretty badly.
all suggestions appreciated...

cheers

Its probably just damp, heat the garage overnight/allday, and charge the battery and try again

The changeable weather has been making the bikes sweat in my garage so just a thought

hi guys thanks for the suggestions, the fuel isnt going to be great condition so its worth changing that, the headlights were bright and from what i can remember the engine doesn't turn over with the kill switch engaged.

So when i get home in a couple of weeks i'll change the fuel (i think i will change the spark plugs too whilst the tank is off) and get a heater in there the day before and see if these make any difference.

Thanks again! if you manage to come up with some other good ones just fire them out there. :thumbup

If the fuel pump is priming, it could be the spark plugs are fuel fouled. Remove and dry out or replace if you see them wet with fuel. I also allowed the cylinders to dry overnight when this happened to me. When I reinstalled the plugs the next morning, it fired right up.

Is the bike in neutral? Sometimes the clutch lever switch can fail.

Careful with that heater: Kaboom!
cheers!
