Hello all,
Had my ECU checked for map 2 yesterday and got caught in a fair serve of rain yesterday and copped the fogged guages syndrome.Popped over to AF1 ( oops havn't posted there yet) and looked through the tutorial for a fix.
When I opened them up there was a good 2 teaspooons of milky water inside which drained out. Some evidence of verdigree(water damage) as well.It had been sealed before but they had only siliconed around the outside of the black surround which would achieve **** all(or nowt you might say)
Cleaned every thing up with contact cleaner and toothbrush siliconed back together and tested.Engine starts, LCD display is fine but none of the warniing lights are working.
Fuctionality of headlight flashers/ indicators etc is fine just no leds on the dash
I've pulled it all down again and checked all (including both sides of the PCB) and i'm stuffed.
What would Pikeman do ?

Tim

heck would would have had days of questions about whether to open it up or not !!!! At least you dont have the constant worry of a warning light coming on :)

and yes,yes its actually spelt verdigris before someone comes in to poke me with a stick ( how can you edit your posts) :)

What year bike is it dude?
I'm gonna assume it's a 03-05?
Are the LEDs you speak of the backlight LEDs? Or neutral light etcetc

Hello mate,
No it's an 07. Yep it"s the Neutral,Sidestand,Engine warning,Indicator,Hi Beam/Lowfuel etc
I think all of these are driven via CAN link from the ECU, then decoded onboard the dash?
There are no DSB faults or ECU faults in the diagnostic section, but as I arrived home yesterday the Neutral and sidestand leds flickered before they died .
From looking at the workshop manual the CAN link appears to be OK which points to new clocks being the answer.

Oh poo it does look like that's the case then, :-(
Your right the information for the warning lights does run from
The ecu so due to the fact that the other parts of the dash are working we can establish that the CAN link is functioning
May be worth a look at the PCB inside to see if you can see the pathway that feeds these? Or even the return?
There's gotta be one common for all the lights somewhere.....
Worth a looky see before ya spend money innit , what you got to lose?
Best of luck
Griff

Thanks Griff,
Have gone over both sides of the PCB and I imagine a chip is buggered after the soaking, dont think all the SMT LEDS would fail together.
Tim.

Well, ordered new clocks and guess what turned up after two weeks waiting.........?
Rsvr guages.
**** **** and ****.
So now I must purchase the correct item.
If I buy 2nd hand and need to pair my keys up, do i need the particular code for that set of clocks ( and yes I understand that that is normally 5 x 1s or 5 0's etc)
or can that be overidden by a stealership ?
Or am I best off getting a set of refurbed with keys pre-matched
As is available from the green and sceptered isle.
Ta
