OK so my bike rides and pulls ok but would like to sort the midrage out and bottom end.
Current state:
K&N de-restricted airbox
Leovince Titanium race can to go on (has a very short leo vince on at the moment !)
PCii with map from PC/dynojet website

Have a 16t front sprocket to go on in next few days.

Do I junk pcii as its quiet old and go and check eprom and if need be cut wire to use second map ?
Junk pcii and fit new eprom gabro or dr rossi ?
or fit new eprom and keep pcii and then get it on dyno (expensive though) ?

I have not checked current state of eprom or wires as yet.

And to throw a spanner in the works I would like to fit hooked airbox in the future as well at some point :devious

I assume its a Gen1 bike ?.

Cut the wire to release the 2nd map (if not already done)

I would change the eprom (Is it standard at the moment), for a Gabro or Dr Rossi (I dont know if Alain is still around), keep the power commander but maybe update the map to something more suitable for the mods you have.

If money was no object then I would get a PCIII , Gabro F255 and the Hooked/Evo type airbox as well as one of RedRat's (Mark) modded headers.

Oh and a before and after Dyno run ...

Yep it is 2001 and I haven't had the bike all that long. Just unsure what way to go to get it sorted and running good. Planning on checking the valve clearances soon as well.

+1 on what Kiwi_rsvr says.

also:

Pay someone to get the suspension set-up/sorted out.

Larger rear sprocket (+2) too?

Rob :)

So I have had a look tonight and the wire has been cut so second map activated.
Power commander is a pciii and not pcii but not a usb. Check the eprom chip and its the stock one.
Also went to put 16t sprocket on the front and it already has one :( Rear sprocket is 42t so may up that to 44t.
So if I get a Dr Rossi/gabro chip will I have to change it if I fit a hooked airbox at later date ?
Suspension has been sorted in the way of ohlins rear shock and forks worked on and set up by MCTechnics at stowmarket.

afaik the pc3 and pc3 usb are the same except for the usb interface so no point changing it. The 44t rear is good and cheap. Not a lot of point getting a chip then the airbox. Do both airbox and chip together if you can mate. Better still get modded headers too.

Pc3 maps at 500rpm gaps and USB at 250 rpm so get a more precise map/fuelling?..oh..modded header plus modded air box = big midrange:devious

What is actually involved in modding the headers ?e

I understand it works like this...

You ask redratbike to send you some and pay him some money. You fit them and send your standard headers back in exchange.

Have a look elsewhere on here and you'll see photos of the extra pipes that get welded on and much talk of the benefits to mid range too.

Rob :)
