Hi all! I`ve been lurking for a little while as I`m seriously interested in getting a late model Tuono. I live in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada and I know I`ve seen a couple here. I was hoping to talk to those owners so I can see one up close and see what the seating position is like.
Also, I`m having a bit of a time trying to figure out when the upgrades were done and what was done. Some poeple list their bikes as 2007.5 model year and others 2007 but with the higher hp engine. When did the changes happen and what happened?

Ray

Dinnae fach aboot the difference in years, or the modest (and ultimately inconsequential) difference in HP. I know a guy in Ontario that was selling his '07 T for a great price. I wanted to buy it but finances at the time precluded. I'll see if it's still for sale. Welcome to the site. I'm VERY happy to have another Canucklehead on the Forum with me. Cinder is a mate that bought an orange '09 after he saw what fun I was having on mine. He's the only other Canadian... He's originally a Quebec City boy, transplanted here to Edmonton.
The seating pos is the reason I bought the T instead of an RSVR. After a run in with a deer, my right arm disnae take the supersport riding pos well. Half a pound of metal holding a shattered elbow together now. Soooo. Running the Tuono is a way to still have a great ride, show up the kids on their R1s and ZX10s, and not feel crippled after the ride. I think you will like it. Add the torque of a twin and the Tuono is probably THE funnest bike I've ever ridden or owned. Have fun.

I currently have a V65 Sabre, CBR1100XX, an SRX600, and a Ducati ST2. I just got the Duc and I`m having a lot of fun with the ST2 but I found I`m missing the hp a little bit over the XX. The ST is supposed to put out about 75 at the wheel and for the most part that`s fine, but when I want to pass, sucking the doors off the car is a lot more fun!
I was looking for a "newcomer" area but I didn`t see one so I figure I`d put it here as this is the model I may be looking for.

We don't get to excited about much. The only thing consistent here is the political incorrectness. Enjoy.

Ey up.

The problem you have is that the US bikes built in 06 were listed as 07.

So
EU 06 = US 07
EU 07 = US 07.5
08 on are all the same AFAIK.

The 06 bikes had the "Magnesium" version of the V990, which was 133bhp (i think, but it might have been 136) the 07(07.5) bikes have the "Magnesium Evo" version, which is 139 bhp.

The power difference is all at the top end of the rev range and tbh you will not notice it riding the bike.

now the traditional bit.

welcome and **** off. :)

Edit.

To forstall the other questions, the only other change was the front brake calipers, the factory models use the same engine, but have Ohlins suspension, Oz or similar forged wheels, rather than cast, and are owned by cooler people.

Then again there are those of us that are satisfied with the size of our ***** and are quite happy with the Tuono R.

Welcome aboard rhubarbray.

Shovel will be pleased now he's got someone closer to home to play with. You're only 2118.8 miles away from each other according to Bing - practically next-door neighbours!

"welcome and **** off. "

Hmmm,.......helluva way to make a guy feel welcome!

One thing I noticed on a reply to the thread was that someone mentioned these bikes have a Canbus wiring system?! All years? Crap. Makes it a lot harder to troubleshoot and modify.

2188 miles? A coffee run! When I can get the time I like taking in longer rides and seeing the country via the backroads.

Welcome Ray, nice to have an east coaster here. I'm just a bit south from you in the states. A whole bunch of us ride up to Ott
every now and then. I have a few friends up there as well. I've ridden the Magna the XX the Duc the SR - the Tuono is a whole 'nother game - you'll wonder why you bought the Duc after you ride the T, and the XX will feel lardy.
We also do longer rides on backroads - let's connect next year for rides! well, after you get a T of course ... :)

Dirk bay Diggler... Hung like a baybee....

16" long and 7lbs 4ozs.....

Just your average Tuoldo rider....

And mebbe we'll have to plan a little NorAm get together. Those ******* in Auld Blighty get excited aboot a piddly little 500 km. Lets talk a 2300 km ride ... fer coffee.... Or maybe you Easterners might want to come out to Utah next May fir the WSBK races... We could all show on the Tuonos!

feckin french measurement, what's the fun in doing 100 kph. OOOH! :)

PS Rhubarb.

Don't take the "**** Off" to heart, it's the proper way to welcome people to the dark side.

Thanks for the invite to the races but unfortunately I`ll be on my way back to the Isle of Man TT then! Already got my room booked.
