Hi All
After years of 1000 J4,s looking for somthing different, so looks like the Tuono for me, looking for the right bike now, Have been trawling the forums and the one thing that bothers me is the misty clocks! Does it affect all bikes and to what extent? Can you do any checks prior to buying the bike, when it is most likley to start misting, ie summer winter or after washing your bike? Would it show up on a test ride?

Many Thanx

Some bikes suffer mate, some don't.
Some dealers will change under warranty, some won't.
Mine suffer slightly in the lower right corner, and mostly when the weather is humid, but never to the point where it affects the view of the instruments.

Ey up Rainbow, I had an Rsvr for well over a year and I've had the T for a good few months now. Both were/are kept outside in a carport uncovered and ridden in all sorts of weather, and no issues with the clocks at all. The bloody back blinkers fog up tho. Don't let it put you off getting a T, they are awesome bikes and the pleasure you will get from riding it will far far outway any little problems associated with them. [bit querky like there owners]

This might not right Been called all sorts but never Quirky

You can fix the issue its a piece of piss to do.

Have a look at the attached link it talks you through how to go about fixing it.

I have heard that if you get a new set of clocks that they can be just as bad so you are as well to fix the ones on the bike. I did mine months ago and its been fine ever since. And as we all know it never stops raining up where i stay.

Dont be put off by this!

****** strange is probably more accurate :lolMind you I get called all sorts on here.:bawling

Alrite Rainbow, i've got an 07 T and had a bloody nightmare with me clocks! it started pretty much when i got the bike,it was bad when it was humid but after a particulary wet trip to Scotland i could not see any of the clocks!! They have since been replaced under warranty with no problems,Aprilia are aware of the issue. There are quite a few fixes on this site so dont let it put you off the bike they are well worth it! hope this helps

ps hows Bungle?:thumbup

yes agreed, as long as the bike is out of warranty.....theoretically, you have nothing to loose :yes

I did mine months ago and its been fine ever since.

fingers crossed....the fogging can come back anytime though.....:thumbup

above all ....don't let the fogging put you off buying a T....

In theory, yes....but a word of warning, the plastic lens is as brittle as fook....you run a serious risk of cracking it trying to remove it whilst it's in situ...
It's only a 5 min job to take it off....

mpg...what is the name of the ACTUAL stuff u used to do it with ?

if you mean the sealant...any propriatary brand silicone will do...be careful how much you put around the unit...too much & it will squeegee back up and onto the black guage...
most use black sealant, however, you can in theory use any colour...I have used clear many times...with good results...

I actually used a clear sealant thats made for fishtanks and have to admit it was really good.

Like whats been said dont use too much and at the same time dont use too little, i must admit i had to do it twice the first attempt i didnt use enough. Its easy to tell as when you put the face back on you should see a good seal around the edge, make sure its well filled round the edge and even.

But like everyone says dont let this put you off buying one of these bikes they are the dogs danglies!
