Hey just thought i would come and say hello as I am a new owner of a RSV mille 02, picked it up last sunday and binned it on my first outing on monday .

Guy I bought it from had some after market levers that he never got round to putting on the bike. As it was raining on said monday I decided to fit them, few hours later the sun came out so I decided to go for a ride, about half a mile down the road the bike felt a bit sluggish but as it was a new bike to me and the fact I had never ridden a twin I put it down to me not used to it. Anyway a bit further down the road I got to a roundabout and half way round it felt like the bike was gonna stall so I gave it a hand full of throttle............

After bouncing down the road on my head and watching the bike slide over the other side of the road I discovered the front brake was locked on.

Turned out the after market lever had a 1-2 mm seam protruding from the middle that was pushing the front brake on gradually.

So I have a few questions if anyone can help I have looked over these forums and all over the internet but cannot find a decent set of Anodised end bars (red) and also I need to replace the indicators as the left side have been broken off can anyone recommend any mini indicators? Do i have to fit a different relay for mini indicators or that just for LED type?

Been reading alot of good stuff on these forums and cant wait to get out and ride the bike (waiting for fairings to be repaired)

Sorry to hear about your unfortunate first ride....this issue of aftermarket levers has been mentioned before on threads...sticking front brake as they don't always appear to fit correctly!...would stick with brembo originals. Mini indicators should be fine without relay, check out RSVR.net for spares...all the best!

oh mate thats a shower of ***** innit!!! unlucky mate i hope its all fixed up soon for ya!!

the little pushrod on the lever that touches the master cylinder is too close to the piston thats whats caused it mate, undo the the grub screw underneath geez and back it off a touch...job done !! you only need a little freeplay mate to make it all gravy!!

catchya soon!!!

Griffer!!

speak to tez

rsvr06 i think his user is
he can supply you some levers

:biggrin welcome to the zone .Sorry that you did not get the real feel or should i say the rush of the v twin. I hope your next ride will be awesome wich I know it will. welcome :thumbup

feel for you mate but welcome to the zone i had to change relay as mini indicators did not flash so i put one off my zx7r on it what make levers did you fit so pep know not to get them:thumbup

If only i knew about the grub screw early, oh well live and learn. Thanks for the advice etc.

The levers were straight replacements for oem levers just cheaper :(. I didnt buy them as they came with the bike. Anyway hopefully have my fairings back soon, after reading these forums I think I'm gonna get myself a hooked airbox when I got some spare cash and a Drrossi chip.

Bummer man.
I'm new to forum too. Seems that they are a friendly lot and only too glad to give good advice.
Fusebox(griff) is the man to sort out any probs you get with the bike mate as he is highly rated on here. Not met him yet but he's sorting my bike for me tomorrow.
I had an experience when i meddled with the rear brake trying to get the f'king thing to work and when i took it for a blast the rear locked up:scared
Turned out i'd adjusted the free play out and as yours did, gradually put brake on.
Eventually sorted back brake by taking the caliper off and bleeding it so the bleed valve was upright. Works a treat now - well for a mille back brake anyway:biggrin

Oh no  thats not a good start to life with a mille, hope you get sorted soon and back on the road old chap :thumbup and welcome to the forum :thumbup

That is a bummer of a start mate, pattern levers are dangerous bloody things, spesh the front brake, my advice is don't use them full stop, this is a regular occurrence with these things.

Hope you get it fixed:thumbup
