Hi Guys im kinda new to the site but have been lurking in the background for quite a while, my name is Ollie i am 19 and currently live in swindon.
i've just put a deposit down on a used rsv'r at premier bikes in didcot i currently ride an sv650s.

so i was wondering, is there any hints n tips you lot could point me too to look for when i finally sign on the dotted line so as not to get screwed over, it would be much apreciated as my knowledge is good on rsv's but there's nothing like forum knowledge:doug

speak soon Ollie C.

HI mate and welcome! where abouts in Swindon? im upper stratton and work ciren. ride a Yellow RSVR :)
What year RSVR you getting buddy?

Anyways, firstly I would get the dealer to install a new battery, not the low powered 12 but the bigger 14 version.
Also for me I would make sure the bike was started from cold so you can see it fires up ok with no dodgy sounds!

Their is tonns more things to check but for the life of me I cant think of any apart from the battery at the moment, Once the usual suspects get on then im sure the list will get longer :)

What shop in didcot?

Welcome again mate

Garv!

Just down the road from me! im just off the A419, follow the duel up to Motorola. mus go for a burn some time mate when you get your mille.

To be totally honest with you, that looks a lovely bike and and a fair price from a dealer, well I think it is mate.

Ill check on Glass's tomorrow at work and see what that says about the price :)

Nice looking bike Ollie. Like Garv says, check it starts on the button from cold (NO throttle and fast idle lever on) and all the electrics seem in order. If not, demand a new battery. Make sure there's no graunching noise on start up - that'll be the sprag clutch.
Check the fork seals for leaks look for signs that it's been dropped - especially scratches on the frame and then the usual stuff that you would on any bike. Anything you find, tell the dealer that you want it fixed - the price is probably fair-ish from a dealer but it's not cheap so you want it to be perfect.
And by the way, how much is insurance for a 19-year-old on an RSV?!

I was wondering that too, 19 year old on a New shape RSVR. not gonna be cheap :)

Haha yeah for the insurance it's a tad expensive, I can only afford tpft at 900 ish as fully comp is over 9k

Don't drink don't smoke no drugs that's how I afford it ;)

£86  that's what I'm gunna be paying every month with a 170 quid first payment!

Damn you!!

Looks like a lovely bike mate, my advice with only TPFT would be to fit some crash bungs all over it.

Have fun.

Steve
