Well, now I've spent a fair few hours "getting at it" with sprays and potions etc it's looking a LOT better.....
Off to PDQ tomorrow to get the rear lowered a bit (but for an orange coating, I could almost work for Willie Wonka....) and to get the rest of the bike set-up once lowered. I've a few biker mates at work who've been and have all had amazingly positive feedback. I shall report back when done!
Although, I've had a couple of mishaps.... The pics show the good side, as the other side is somewhat scuffed..... Anyways, the lhs mirror half-ball adjustery thing was split in 2 directions, so kept coming loose and flapping about.... Well, yesterday, clear, straight road, dry, no junctions / houses / field entrances / traffic, I engaged 3rd and gently wound the throttle to the stop.... Whilst approaching medium / high revs, I got smacked on the arm!
Closing throttle, looked around and lo and behold, I'd been attacked by the LHS mirror that had bailed out!
I laughed a LOT! I stopped, turned around, picked it up, but alas it was broken. So I took it away to put in a bin. Arrived at my mates place, stopped, regaled teh story, laughed again, then noticed that the LHS heel guard was slightly bent inwards, so as I stepped to bend it back out, my toe caught the sidestand peg thing that you use to deploy the stand. And it snapped off! It was already half broken.. So quick pop off to get it re-welded back on.
Ironically, the new LHS mirror fixing kit (all the connecting gubbins) arrived this morning.... Buggeration. However, new mirror, OEM, was an MASSIVE £8!!!
RESULT!
On shinying and prodding / poking / lubing / tightening etc etc, I noticed a couple more issues - RHS handlebar is bent!!
So, more digging about / asking / scrounging needed.
Oil / filters / plugs / coolant / hydraulics service after payday, but this weekend will see panels / mudguards off, another looky / prod / poke / lube / clean / protect under and inside the panels. Then, depending how much the service costs, will dictate when I get the fairing sorted / painted. I got a few other things I want to get, various fasteners and exhaust saver etc etc too. And as luck would have it one of my good mates has a neighbour with a graphics company who do things for cars / businesses etc, who said he'd do my decals for nowt!
Sooooo, by summer, it SHOULD be all tickety boo!
Phew. My fingers hurt now - sorry for the enthusiastic long post....
