I've just became the proud owner of a 2001 RSV1000, fecking amazing bike.
I'have done well over 200 miles on the bike since I got it yesterday and it runs like a dream.
The problem I have is the service light is on, I've ready all the threads on how to reset it but it doesn't seem to be working:confused
I've pressed the lap button and R button at the same time for 5-15 seconds several times but its still on:angry

What am I doing wrong, please help:exclamation

Should reset if you turn the ignition on, then press lap and R at the same time for 5 seconds.

If it's not resetting then you may have a dodgy lap or R button or even a dodgy dash.

These dash buttons need a good hard prod to work, may just be that.

I had the same problem rocketsy.

My lap/flash light button didn't work. You need this button to set the time too so if you can't do that either it's probably the lap. If you undo the two screws holding the two halves of the left control cluster you can then short the terminals with a screwdriver etc whilst pressing the R button to get rid of the service light.

,...or just fix switch, could be corrosion from water ingress

I'vr tried it but still no joy, flash/lap button is working fine must be the R button.
Should I be worried, as the bike starts, stops and runs perfectly I really can't fault it apart from this feckin light.

then the R button is working!

Just turn the ignition on, dont start the bike.
Then push lap button and hold R button for 5 seconds

Disconnect the battery and leave it for 10 minutes.

When you reconnect see if it works then.

Just disconnected the battery for 10 minutes but with no joy, that feckin light is still on!
Anything else you can think of.
As I said before I've now done over 300 miles on the bike with the light on, it starts, stops and goes like sh*t, with no unusual noises or anything else suspect.
I've had the side panels off and the engine and eletrics all look like new, no leaks on the engine or corrosion on the terminals.
If its not affecting the bike should I just ignore it?
Thanks again Sy

Do all the other functions on the dash work OK?

Personally, I couldn't live with it. I would have to fix it no matter what the cost, sometimes the dashes appear on Ebay for around £80 or so.

Does the odometer and clock work OK?

I seem to remember that the Service light function was triggered by miles covered/Time lapsed but I may be wrong, I read way too much.

Will see if I can find that thread for you.
