Okay, I`m STILL "umming" and "ahhing" about whether to keep my `04 RSVR standard, or go for some new aftermarket exhaust cans.

As such, has anybody been able to compare the sounds of the cans on the `04 model to those on the `08 and onwards ?

Reason I ask, is that I`m considering a set of the newer ones for mine, but don`t know whether to fork out, or not, if the sound is no better.

I would expect it NOT to be, particularly, as they both have baffles in (obviously), but as I want to stay road-legal anyway, I`m just wondering.

Anybody heard both at all ?

herd both.. both sound ****... buy aftermarkets WITH baffles... road legal.. Simples ;)

There really is no comparison between the standard cans and some quality after market road legal removeable baffle cans. A set of new or used Akrapovic SP titanium / carbon or Arrow titanium / carbon cans should be your cans of choice. Get Map2 enabled by an Aprilia dealer and throttle bodies CO2 reset and you really won't look back. For 2004 model onwards, fit a 15 tooth front sprocket and a 42 tooth rear and you will be amazed at how more alive these bike become

Got the message LOUD and clear, there Ollie, but do aftermarket cans, with baffles, sound noticeably different/better than the standard cans with baffles ?

Sorry to mither with this one, and I know that I should try and get to a meet somewhere and have a listen to some aftermarket cans on someone else`s bike, but I`m a bit pushed for time at the moment (wife has cancer, and is currently on the local hospital`s cancer ward being subjected to her 3rd of 4 chemo-cycles. Plus we have young kids !)

Any advice greatly accepted..........cheers. :thumbup

hi mate sorry to hear about all your troubles..

The aftermarket cans with baffles don't sound like the standard ones but still sound very road legal if you get what i'm saying... compared to a stock unit yes i guess they are going to be marginally louder but not a whole lot of difference i'd have thaught.... maybe a few db max!

try looking on youtube... as stuipd and as distaughted it is it gives you and idea of what sorta range your looking at...

Ollie

Cheers Ollie, thanks for the kind comments mate re the wife. Fingers crossed, etc.......:thumbup
