hello,

need a new set of tyres and was wondering what you guys would recommend??

Cheers:thumbup

Personally, I went for a Sports TOuring set, as I don't do track and on road I won't get any fancy sticky ones up to temperature and also I don't lack for grip with ST tyres. Not much in it, TBH, between the main contenders. I went for Dunlop Roadsmarts, but there are Sport Smarts and also the new Michelins (I think) that are highly rated.

what he said ...fancy sport uber sticky tires are a waste if money for road use ....today's sport touring tires have more grip than 80s motogp tires .... so the tire garage said

I've got through 2 sportsmart rears (on 2 bikes) and I think they're pretty good. Grippy as fook. Very stable, good in the wet..blah, blah...Got almost 2500 on the Aprilia, well impressed.
Never tracked them, but found them never lacking on the road...
However, I might just try a Roadsmart in there to see the front out. Just out of curiosity like...I recon I'm getting nowhere near the sportsmarts limits on the road (although I do tend to ride fairly hard) so the roadies seem to make sense.

+1 for sportsmarts. Had them on mine for past 8 months and never had a moment with them. Would be interested to see how the roadsmarts compare though as my rear is nearly shot!

got pirelli rosso 2 on at the minute with no problems, before that had maxxis sportmax which for the price couldn't complain £125 approx for front and rear, 3500 miles on rear, 5500 on front.

I put a set of Diablo corsa III's on mine last year, did almost no mileage and on the last trackday at Brands the rear literally fell to bits. The right side of the tire had big tears in it. Someone suggested that it could be suspension setup, but think dodgy tire personally. My point being, I wouldn't recommend them :biggrin
