New tyres. Which ones?

LINCOLNSHIRE
Ok summer is just around the corner and i fully intend on getting some time on my stead.

The crappy 207's are going and need replacing with a decent tyre that wont see me in the hedge on a dry day or if i get caught out in the rain. (they were on the bike when i bought it)

Current choices are:

BT016 (look alright but haven't found much out about them)
Rennsport viper? (Been told a little dodgy in the wet)
Diablo corsa (I thought the standard Diablo were good on my gixer)
208rr (too sticky with shortish life?)

As anyone anyother suggestions? I'm discounting the 2CT's because i think they're too expensive. I can get any of the above for £150 ish fitted. Any comments on the above?

Can someone give me a steer. I dont know how the V twin treat the tyres. :dunnoThe Corsa look favourite at the moment as the bias is about right for my intentions of fastish road with a few track days thrown in.

Just bought a pair of Avon Viper Sports(£151 delivered), just arrived today, almost slick on the edges!! Apparently very good in the wet too!! Will keep you all posted.......

Hello mate,i've heard the corsa 3 work well,but i use the 2cts on mine & would'nt change,i trust them,good luck fella..:thumbup:thumbup

What do you use Supertedlover? I thought you were on BT's. What do you think?

Am on 021, dual compound i can get em for about £160+vat, have had 016 too and liked them. Might try 2ct next though, depends on cost against the bridgestones

Thanks you'all. I've settled on some BT014's. I know there are better tyres out there but for £160 fitted i thought i'd give them a try. Had to be better than the 207's. If they dont work then 2cts will be next. A18 tyres in Doncaster have loads at resonable prices.

Maybe so but you gotta take your bike to Donny and pay for them to take your wheels out  Good luck in seeing them again :biggrin

Buy Metzeler Racetec scrubs for about £50-70 a pair. They dont last long but at that price you cant complain, and they stick like nothing else I've tried (and warm up very quickly even with road use). In my opinion you need to have the stickiest tyres you can get if you want confidence on the bike.

i think it sounds like you know you are compromising and i dont get that!

2CT's are awesome imo and well worth the asking price

Compromising on tyres on a Mille is right up there with those Ebay brake pads made in Hong Kong.

They're gonna last but for how long and how are they gonna perform when you need them?

I know many people are on tight budgets at the moment but buying tyres cause of the price is unreal.

I read the tyre spec on the BT016 and compared with the BT014. They read identically. Visually the BT016 has a very slightly different tread pattern which alters wet grip. They are both high silica tyres with the same duel compounds and compound spread across the tyre......i'm just trying to justify my decision now aren't i? Seriously they'll be ok. Ron Haslem puts them on his race school bikes. If they're good enough for him last year then they have to be worth a try.
