Hi RBD

Yes, frame sliders are crash bungs.

As far as replacing the suspension link plates are concerned: I feel that it's cheap insurance. Without wishing to sound alarmist in any way, I am aware (through the Apriliaforum website; so take this at face value)of two separate incidents in New Zealand where the link plates were found to have failed. Whether before or after the fact is still unknown, I believe. There has been no recall or any other acknowledgment from Piaggio regarding the rear suspenders to date. Like I said, cheap insurance IMHO.

So if the link plates fail - what are the consequences?

You crash.

I must stress that AFAIK theses incidents are isolated and uncommon. To me, this is the true benefit of belonging to a community like this.

Whether this is a true fault or just an isolated instance, is a moot point. It in no way tarnishes my Tuono for me. I replaced the link plates out of a sense of caution rather than in a mad panic. Better to be aware of the possibility and react accordingly, than to be ignorant and suffer the consequences, however unlikely.

Here is a list of threads from "Apriliaforum" concerning this issue:

I believe the consensus was that the plates could have failed following a severe bottoming out of the rear wheel. :dunno

I will say it again though: the sky is not falling :megaphone

OK OK OK Chunkylad - Yes the bike has arrived, and here is my first attempt at downloading pictures so I hope it works!

Extras include Akrapovics, tail tidy, and Puig screen.

What do you think?

Fantastic.Looks just like mine asside from the gold wheels & red trim on the face. Great pics, and that puig screen looks the business. Thanks for sharing.

I had a little side play in the linkage when MOT`d at end of August. I have been told this is normal but a regreasing of bearings and bushes is a must.
