picked up my new to me tuon factory 59 plate last week white/red,went for a ride out yesterday stoped at the pondarosa cafe north wales, met a bloke who said he used to have a rsv1000 factory he told me him and others have had problems with the ohlins at the bottom just above the 2 pinch bolts that clamp the sindle cracking. as anybody had this problem.

Well ****** mines on a 53 plate with Ohlins and mines not cracked so I guess theres 7yrs of use in those. I would have thought if there'd been a problem they'd have been recalled eh

Welcome ******.

I've owned an RSV with Ohlins shock and now have a Factory Tuono 09 with Ohlins and never had a problem.

The guy at the Ponderosa is describing what can happen if you overtighten the pinch bolts.
Be careful when you do anything with the front wheel.

Guess best use a Torque Wrench eh Bat

Yeah, or just be sensible tightening the bolts, I've never had an issue but I have heard of it happening. Usually on bikes owned by guys who tighten everything until it squeals.

My dad always said get it to a tightness which isn't to tight and then another quarter of a turn.

yes my mates prilly 07 factory had both front fork seals pop in the Alps last year, he road it flat out for the next week till we got back!! and i think there was a recall on it?? any how i also hear overtigtning them pinch bolts do crack the caps...people just over tighten them...i would not let any body take my wheels out!!!!!!!! when i went and test roade my prilly i checked caps and seals lol

seen it once on an ex race rsv factory !
and yes they had been overtightened,
so the rule is use a torque wrench every time

thanks for that, gues not to much to worry about then, just watch out when i get new tyres then that they dont tighten them to much.

what price peace of mind?

too loose and your bike falls to bits...sometomes catastrophically

a decent torque wrench is one of the best investments you'll ever buy... :yes
