well now ive done one its amazing what a difference its made.

most of the start issues are down to the sprag not engaging properly and slipping.

bike now spins up fast and starts with just the fast idle !! so if your bike turns over slow and you have a good battery it may be the sprag is failing.

the only thing wrong with my sprag bearing was the retaining spring that holds the little sprags in place was lose and that was it !!
there was no damage to the housing or the sprags (apparently you can tighten the spring but it often fails again so why try as flywheel is a cnut to remove ) lol

£100 to fix and a £100 well spent :thumbup

Surely the flywheel isn't to bad to remove if you have flywheel puller??? :dunno

Meant to ask m8 what happened with the KTM sprag you were going for in the 1st place......... I heard also BMW F650?? fits also do you know what price comparison this is compared?? Jst asking as I may buy 1 just incase mine goes at some point then I have it ready to fit.......

i just got one off griff as £90 delivered and nxt day so top marks to the grifster

the ktm people said they couldn't supply it ?

to be fair i got the 648 free the gasket was fine and i only needed the bearing so cheap fix.

if you have the right puller and a good blow torch the flywheel should come off relatively easy (but its on fooooooooking tight )

easy job if the flywheel pops as just oil tank and gen covet to remove and the gen cover just pulls out the way and no need to remove it or the clutch slave either.

after fairing removed it would be a hrs work now ive done one :thumbup
