Hi ya fellas bit of advise required please, I've ordered a set of Renthal soft grips from rsvr net, cracking guys:thumbup. The fella I spoke to on the phone said that they are a bit of a nightmare to fit and that I didn't need glue to secure them, has anyone fitted them before and could give me some valuable pointers please. I've never fitted grips and am not even that sure how to get the old ones off:dunno, any advice would be greatly appreciated.
Cheers Dave:thumbup

right mate all you need is wd40 and a jug of warm water

Put the new grips in the water give them 10 mins to soften up so that there nice and flexible

the old grips all you need to do is work the WD40 underneath and they will come off with a bit of slight persuasion :thumb up

If your throwin the old grips away mate, cut the length of em with a stanley blade then peel them off.

same as milleboy for putting new ones back on except i smear i tiny bit of fairy liquid around the grip opening to allow a little movement when sliding them on, fairy liquid will dry within a few mins and grips as safe as mate :thumbup:thumbup

Cheers Milleboy, with the wd40 do you wedge the old grip up to get it in or cut the end off to spray it in mate. Plus the guy from rsvr said something about a plastic cover on the original aprilia ones, sorry if I'm coming across a bit thick I just dont want to **** it up and end up having to ride to a mechanic with no grips on asking to help me out lol

Cheers Little1:thumbup, I'm not mechanicaly minded at all, and also a bit of a pesimist when it comes repairing or fitting stuff myself, I'm that unlucky minstrels melt in me hands.

hi bud if you got the straw bit that fits to the end of the nozzle then all ou do is lift the end up and pile it in it will soon work through

Mate i used to be the same, now ill try almost any job on mine, theres always someone on here that will help thro the forum or a phone call, if im having real trouble with something i ring RS3mille and he talks me thro it, never be afraid to ask, no matter how simple it may seem, i do :thumbup:thumbup

:biggrin:thumbup:thumbup Cheers fellas, hopefully it'll all go well if not be prepared for rsvnelly's question time soon lol. Thanks again lads.

Cut the old un's off with a stanley and used fairy liquid to get the new ones on with a previous bike and it worked fine. Was straining like I was having a 4 foot long **** at one stage mind but it got the job done :biggrin :exclamation

Had Renthal grips on my old mille, nice feel and less effort to hold on.
Get rid of all the old glue and they will go on alot easier, get them really hot with the Mrs's hairdryer and i used a small amount of unleaded petrol shaken inside the grip.

Got the grips fitted today a breeze to get em on:thumbup, will need to get some renthal grip glue though, the hairspray didn't really work that well at all. Did have a nightmare though, the last owner had rounded off the allen bolt on the left bar end had an epick trying to get it off:confused, then when I did the DHB barends I got from rsvrnet didn't fit. Told ya nothing is easy when I get involved, I've the DHB ones back and bought a pair of R & G ones instead:biggrin.
