Hi everyone,

have just purchased an RSV1000 mille reg2000. Looks awesome, but needs a bit of sorting.

I knew it had some problems with the electrics and am hoping it won't take too much to sort out...

a) the speedo and rev counter don't seem to operate right - when running registers 0 revs, when riding registers 0 mph and doesn't clock up any miles.

b) Has diag 41 displayed. Looking at other threads, it says this is the fall sensor. Would this be something to do with the stand then and nothing to do with the clocks?

c) Oil light and low fuel light stay on. The tank is almost full though.

Any ideas or solutions to the probs would be much appreciated. Getting the speedo and rev counter to work properly definitely a priority.

Cheers guys

James

hey fazza, maybe worth just running a hand along the wiring back to the main loom to check for visible damage to the wiring... might be as sinple as a few knackered wires. either way hope you get it sorted soon

when its sussed may be worth meeting up for a spin as i too live in the horrible little cesspit known as petersburg

Hi mate, don't worry about the bike.....the guys on here willhave it diagnosed and fixed in no time!!!

Welcome!

cheers for the responses so far...

Sabre, yes, left display registers mileage, trip and speed (stays at 0 mph, just like tacho says at 0)
the right display just says diag 41.

cheers olek, definitely up for a spin once I've got it sorted and the weather's a bit better. luckily live outside of the hole that is Petersburg, near Oundle

cheers

Error 41 is almost certainly the tip over sensor under the seat, you need to pull the conectors apart and check for corossion etc.
With the sensor out does it rattle when you shake it ?

Hi db,

We are going to give it our best shot, failing that it will become a wmd and targeted toward Italy :)

:thumbup allrighty then.I hope you get it sorted out I have a stalling problem with my 07 .hopefully The dealer can figure it out..have a good night.donnie

fazza, i'm just down the road

so if ya need a hand gimme a shout

i've got a set of clocks and tip over out at the min before it goes on my track bike if ya wanted to try?

speedo could be down to faulty sensor

revs down to pic up wire?

I had a quick look under the seat and couldn't see the tilt switch so maybe it's not there, could be a problem. The bike still runs though so shouldn't be an issue.

cheers Cheesy, I'd take you up on the offer but I can't ride for a month or so due to a bike accident in thailand and a busted collarbone. If you've still got it when I'm mobile again that would be good.

where would i find the pick up for the revcounter on the bike?

cheers

fazza

if its easyer for me to pop over and have a looky gimme a shout

me grandparents live your way so i could visit them same time

What are the terminals like on your 16 pin ECU connector?

Reason I ask is that all your electrical glitches appear to trace back to the ECU.

Defo worth looking at the fall sensor issue first as this could be the cause of all your woes!!

I'll have another good look tomorrow for the fall sensor and ecu etc. I've struggled a bit with finding everything, my last bike was a ducati monster which was very basic compared to this.

that would be great if you don't mind cheesy, well beyond the call of duty. Just let me know when you're free and I'll give you the address, hopefully the weather will get better soon as I live in the village and the raods are screwed at the moment. It'd be good to compare the electrics etc with your bike, as I sduspect the previous owner has really f***ed about with them.

cheers

fazza, could well be free wed or thurs this week

i'll give ya a run down on the bike aswell as to where everything is

pm ya details

sounds good buddy. I'm not working at the moment so I'll be here whenever you can make it over.
