the wiring mod adds extra cables and lowers the resistance of the circuit therfore ( is that a word?) allowing more current to pass to the battery.Their is a link to it somewhere I think it is on the af1 site.
The starter solenoid allows more oomp (amps) to get to the starter motor and helps turn the motor over better.
Both mods are spot on and can be done for under £30
Use the attached document for the wiring and just search for Yamaha solenoid on here, get the part number and pop down to your local bike parts dealer.
Have fun doing the mod to the wiring, looks a lot harder than it actually is, trust me.
