Hi!

I’m new to the forum and the RSV world but i like it so far!

Anyway I am having starting and alarm issues. I am going to get a new battery as I think this is why its not starting (the motor does turn but i dint think its fast enough). Anyway I think the alarm has 'spiked/immobilised' when i removed the old battery as I didnt put the alarm in service mode to remove it (the alarm went crazy!).

Has anybody any experience with datatool alarms (veta evo) for 2001 RSV Mille?

If so will the engine still turn over if the system is spiked?

Aprilia's and most V twins do not like alarms. The cranking power needs to be spot on to get them to start and unless you run an optimate or similar you are going to have issues.
I ripped the alarm out of mine and paid the extra premium after about 3 batts in 2 years. From that point on i never had another battery or starting issues again.

A higher amp/h batt and a Yam starter solenoid will help but get it on an optimate asap.

Thanks!

Im gona take the alarm of ASAP and just buy a good chain!

Thanks for the advice, il see what the weekend brings!

you need to replave the std starter solenoid with the more powerful one, talk to Griff at Aprilia Performance he sells them, dead easy to do not expensive.

From memory i beleive the higher rated soleniod passes twice the current as the Aprilia item.

Griff will sell you a better batt also.

Thanks again guys, can you send/post me details for the better solenoid please?!
Is it a Yamaha part btw?

I had the same problem with mine when i first got it.took it to the local aprilia dealer and got them to disconnect just the immobilizer so i still have an alarm so i can hear if any scrote tries to nick it.
