After years of having cheap helmets given to me through sponsors I have finally dipped into my own deep pockets and bought one for myself.

Been looking at them for months and this morning whilst still half asleep took the bull by the horns and clicked the "checkout" button!!

I am changing my race colours for the team to Red, White and Black and my RSVR is also red, grey, black and I happen to love this helmets design.. :inlove

I give you the Arai RX7 Haga:

RRP is £499 but I managed to find it for £379 brand spanking with free delivery. Now I just need a Black Visor and also thinking about a nice warm arai carry bag to keep it snuggly and safe!

Ah that's a nice lid for sure. Always liked the Haga replicas.

I got the blue cloth material carry bag with the Quantum Doohan rep I had a few years ago so you should be sorted there unless things have changed. I don't remember it coming as a freebie, was just in the box the helmet came in.

I was looking at this:

I was thinking of something that would help pretect it and something to store it in when I was taking it to race meetings and things. It's a lot of money for a helmet so though it was worth while to keep it pretected from bashes and scratches. Or is it not worth it at all and the bag the helmet comes with good enough? I wuld keep it in the bad when at home on the shelf just to keep it dust free.

Ah right, I see where you're coming from now. That's a super dooper deluxe bag :devious.

Might be worth getting one if you're doing race meetings and mobile just to protect it a wee bit more. The nylon bag you get with the lid is just an anti dust one really.

Have seen similar designs of bag if am right for about £35. end of the day if you drop it in bag or not i think it will still damage the integrity of the shell but as a racer i guess the lid takes its fair share of knocks anyway. If they are that sort of cash and your taking it to meets a lot if it was me i would buy one. they look the nuts aswell.

When I bought my Arai last year they had a deal on where you got choice of several freebees (including that helmet bag) when you registered your purchase with the importer Phoenix tel 0178 256 9800. It may be worth checking if they still do it?

I saw a few sites where you got £100 worth of free stuff including the bag, a visor and cleaning kit. Didn't bother with them though as I got the helmet £120 cheaper than they were selling it for anyway and can pick the official Arai bag up for £35 and an offical "Dark" Visor for £35. Will still save buying the bits seperatly.

yep i would advise gettin one of those mate they are really good, i must add that mine did come free with the helmet BUT even if it had'nt i would of still got one comes with a over the shoulder type strap which is really handy if your at an event or simalar saves carrying it around in your hands:thumbup

I got my Nicky Haydon rep from Hein Gerrick for £379 and a free bag, I chose the one that doubles as a seat. The free bag deal was from Arai.

Thats a good deal. My Local Hein Gericke are selling them at the Full £499 and you get the one off the shelve that people have been trying on! And no free gifts

I'm obviously not in the income category as you guys. :biggrin I just purchased a new HJC FS 10 that I love. It has the retractable sun-visor, and it fits the shape of my head. :thumbup My major problem is that my head changes it's shape on a weekly basis as the missus rearranges my noggin after I tell her no to something she really wants. :rant I've had to go to a XXL just to get one that'll fit.

i have the hjc too, plain black with black visor.
although it was cheap n cheerfull, its been an ecellent lid!
as good as my shoei,i now use the hjc all the time and relegated the shoei to a spare.

I got my Doohan rep back in 00 a lot cheaper over the net than from the local Arai dealers which at the time was in Exeter. Although I did nip in there first, gave the saleswoman some right old flannel to try them on to find the right size then said I would be back :fooku

30mins later I was on the net ordering one online and saved over £100 :nana

Talking of lids, I was in the local VJ Superbikes dealers in town having a ganders and asked about whether they could get a replacement visor for my AGV lid that's 6 year old. The salesman guy was giving me this spiel about thinking about replacing the lid due to it's age. Was he talking bollocks and worthy of getting slapped around the head with a big fish or what?:dunno

I must have tried it on in Hein Gericke about 100 times every time I go in working out what was the best size. I even told them I wouldn't be buying from them as I could get it over £120 cheaper online! lol
