Very very nice mate!!!

Thought I was looking into the Blackwall Tunnel on that second pic :lol

Out of interest what would one need to do if they fitted these? Would you need it chipped/mapped? Also how much did it set you back (PM me if you'd rather not post)?

Does anyone get any hassle with the Police these days using race exhausts on the public road? (I assume they aren't road-legal)

I think my road-legal Akrapovic slip-on is a bit on the loud side for other road users, even though I think it sounds great.

Yes I know I'm ok with the Akrapovic Rich. It was just a question to see if anyone with a race system fitted to their bike is getting any hassle these days.

I also have a Diavel in the garage at the moment and I get the feeling that our 82dB (or whatever it is) noise limit is being liberally interpreted. Don't misunderstand where I'm coming from, I'm not against a bike sounding like a bike and of course it depends on how they're ridden too, just wondering what we're geting away with these days.

I have had Austin racing cans on my RSV4 since i owned it march '10, never had any problems at all. In fact a copper stopped his car to have a look at mine once as he hadn't seen one before and even commented how good the can looked!!

Nice to hear that Kingfixer, the after-market systems like Austin Racing and Akrapovic do look so much better than the ugly dustbin that Aprilia fits as standard. I was on the Plymouth Mega-Ride on Sunday and took a Diavel with a Termignoni exhaust, leaving my RSV4 at home for a change. Chatting to some of the Police motorcycle patrolmen who came along as our escort, they were bemoaning the fact that their numbers have been reduced and they get pulled off traffic duties to go to all sorts of other "shouts" including burglaries and domestics - which explains why we see so few of them around down here in the Westcountry these days.

I did the Plymouth mega ride on the RSV4 last year with some friends, the bike was actually running then:roll. Pity the coppers are getting pulled off road duties :devious

Last year's Mega-Ride was great, did it on my ZZR1400 with a lady from Radio Plymouth on the pillion, about 8,000 bikes they reckoned. There were fewer this year, estimated at 5,000, it was still a really good ride-out though and I met loads of people, some I hadn't seen for years, while I was walking around on The Hoe afterwards. I hesitated to take the Aprilia this year because I thought it might get a bit hot in a slow-moving convoy for 30 odd miles, it's only just run in and I'd have had to put the pillion foot-rests on again. There was an RSV Mille next to me with a pair of loud cans and it sounded awesome, the Diavel coped very well and being a new model still draws a lot of attention but it was so good to get back on my Aprilia.

Looking at your avatar, do you know how many db's the Akra can kicks out. me and a mate did a track day at silverstone on monday and one of the things they went on about especially the guy from silverstone was noise levels !!. I was on a hired s1000rr for the day so was ok, as mine is still in the bloody dealers.

I haven't measured it yet but I've got a noise meter, when it stops raining I'll get the bike out, measure it and let you know.

Hi,

I've done Silverstone three times this year on my RSV4 Factory, no noise issues with the Akra slip on with baffle in, not bothered trying with baffle out.

Actually I think we met the first time I was there earlier this year, you were on a hire bike back then too.

Yes were you the guy who bought the RSV4 from the dealers at Silverstone??
Just found out this morning my bike is now fixed, just valve clearances in the end...a long story!!

Yes, thats me. Touch wood - all has been fine with mine, hope yours is sorted eventually, might make you keep it!

May see you at Silverstone again some time, also just booked Jerez in October with Hottrax :thumbup

I made that Akrapovic measurement: With the baffle in, 1 metre from the rear of the exhaust, at a 45 degree angle and at a constant 4,000 rpm It was 89dB. Then I tried it in gear with the valve open and it was no louder, just deeper.

When I have more time I will measure it baffle out too and at a range of static rpm. From what I've seen it should get through scrutineering for track-days no problem.

Cheers Bob,

If i keep the V4 i will put one of the Akra cans on.
