Hey all.

We have had good weather lately and I'm getting an itchy throttle hand. There are a few things to prep before heading out for the first time since..... bloody hell.... must have been September I was last on a bike. Far tooooo long!!!

Ok, so I ordered my new C&S, 15-42 this time, just to see how that goes. On removing the front sprocket I noted a bit of scratching on the engine case behind there, where the chain rivets have been glancing it.

There is a larger offset on one side of the sprocket, but that was to the outside. Was that wrong? Can someone whip off their sprocket cover and check for me please before i chuck this new one on. If you can take a photo, I'll be able to tell which way round.

I've run out of daylight and it's bloody Baltic outside. The tools are about -20C out there, and my fingers not far off that so typing takes ages. I need a heated garage.

Bah. Come on spring! :yes

Errrr, so glad I checked. I guessed wrong!

Will crack on tomorrow night. Cheers Slayer. :thumbup

Noooo, wait a min. I was right, it was wrong before. It didn't make sense to have the boss at the outside.

Bloody hell, I've managed to confuse myself. Time for a beer and write today off lol.

The boss goes against the engine min, it acts as a spacer, if in doubt run the chain round H it will jump off if its wrong

The last owner put the 15t on after the first service, so it's done 8000miles without jumping. Phew, I'm luckier than I thought!

slayer, there's no way the chain should Jump Off because the front chain wheel's 2-3mm offset.

I'll assume yer ment somat else, if not yer had to much juice mucker.

Or maybe yer jist ower the Moon cause yer got a new machine today. :thumbup

If you put the sprocket oan the wrong way would it not jam against the engine Aldo as there wouldnae be enough room for it get by. Nae jungle joose the nicht min, but you are richt aboot the new bike. One thing I did learn on the way home is that the polis seem tae finish their shifts aboot 3ish, just be carefull tomorow

slayer, the clearances shouldn't be that tight and remember the sprocket thickness is always much less % wise than the internal size of the chain links.

If yer go tae the rear sprock and hold the chain between thumb and forefinger at the furthest point from the engine ie 3 0'clock you should be able to move it from side to side across the sprock.

If it wer that wrong then the chain would simply cut it's way through the engine casing unless yer on the mountain at cadwell. (I think)

This might sound a bit crass mucker but a suppose am old school and like ma comforts.

Ma shed is where a fettle **** wae a pish awful wee radio on instead of hookin up ma beloved HI FI, noo if a hud a visual machine tae distract me I'd get less than zero done.
