Evening all

I'm Nik from Rainham, Kent, UK

Came acrros this forum during reading some reviews on different bikes.

I'm currently between bikes after selling my Hayabusa to support my venture into vehicle graphics and signwriting.

I liked the busa for comfort and long range, especially two up but I never got on with it and I think this is due to not having the sports bike hooligan inside me out of my system.

I'm sure these are questions that have been covere before but I'm new to anything V-twin and wanna do my research ahead of searching for the right bike.

What are RSV's like to ride compared to a simliar 1000cc such as a GSXR1000?

How would I get on with one despite being fairly tall and weighing not a lot? I felt really at home on a recent ride out on a GSXR750 but missed the low down grunt that the busa gave.

Lastly, what kind of things should I look out for if I'm after a 04 onwards model?

Cheers for any helps and with any luck I'll be on here for a while.

:eatcorn

Welcome to the zone nik..................

hI NIK, don't take anyone else's recommendation, just take one on a test ride and make your own mind up, then you'll know why we all have one :doug

welcome to the site fella.

The best way to find out is to have a go on one. I know you fancy a 04 model on, but try a good 03 as they are a lot roomeir for us bigger blokes

Welcome Nik. As the other guy's have said you need to get yourself a test ride on one. I've had all of the big four jap thou's over the year's and plenty of other stuff in between, the RSV has a different character to all of them. I hadn't planned on testing an RSV but when I was offered a ride on a Factory at a friend's dealership, (Bowen Moto), I took one out. I was hooked within a couple of mile's and put down a deposit the same day.

Cheers the welcome and the advice guys

I have been to Bowen Moto this morning to get some advice and he said the same, just ride one

my main concern is how they ride when they are not riden hard and how I will fair being quite skinny and not weighing much?

My main objective now is to find one to ride I guess

How tall and how light ? :biggrin . There are some tall guy's on here and I don't think they have any problem's, i'm just over 6 foot and around 14.5 stone and the bike works well for me.

Did you get to sit on an RSV at Bowen's ?.

I'm about 5 11 and 11stone.

The RSV in Bowens was on a paddock stand and he wasnt keen to let me sit on it.

Gotta try and find a dealer who's got one that I can try.

Welcome to the zone mate. :thumbup

I'm local to you so go on get one, you know you want to.

Would Bowens not let you test ride one then, miserable buggers?

Loads of guys in Kent to ride with, all with different abilities too, I'm the slow rider of the bunch so stick with me mate. :doug

PS. I'm 5' 10" and 13 stone and I fit just fine.

Hi and welcome to the forum.

The search to find some dealer that will let you ride one is going to be hard so contact private sellers too just to get a drive and a feel for the bike.

Good luck:thumbup

When i was looking for one i went up to a dealers in Kingston, at the time(only about 2 months ago) he had 3 in and had i of had my licence with me he said he would quite happily let me have a ride.
Called Wheel power, He has one on Autotrader at the moment, 04 black so might be worth a visit just for the test ride.

Cheers for that, much appreciated

Bowens didnt have one availabe to ride, seems a lot of dealers are selling demo's and not replacing them til spring.

Might see what bikes are for sale at dealers

Thanks for that, might be worth a look

much comes down to finainces at the moment but I do miss having a bike

Not sure how much you wanna spend Nik, but there are a couple within 40 mile's of you on biketrader, they're around the 5k mark. Might do you for a test ride :thumbup .

cheers Stu, looking on MCN as well, some cracking bikes for sale but money might be the issue at the moment. Will probably have a look early next week and go and get myself a ride on one. Would be nice just to sit on one but Bowens was on a paddock stand on the RSV4 display stand and they werent keen on anyone sitting on it.

I'm at work for the next few day's, but if you havn't tried one for size by Wed i'll pop round if you like, you can try mine.

Seriously? What a gentleman. I will still try and find one but if not I may well take you up on that offer.

Very much appreciated.

reading on some sites that in general the RSV is quite a handful? I know opinions vary and each to their own and all but how do these bikes compare to say a gsxr750 or 1000?

I'm pretty sure I'll answer my own questions when I get to ride one but I'm a fairly casual rider much of the time and some suggest that these are better suited to those who RIDE them that bit harder
