New 180 rear tyre

As for Metzlers I wouldn't touch em with a barge pole let alone put them on my bike. Had a bad episode with those on my 1st bike and put me off for a lifetime. ***** tyres in my opinion. I'd rather a set of Avon. They were damn good tyres the Avon storm I fitted on my BMW

Popcorn!

Tyres are as personal as colour choices, what one rider loves another will loath.
I love Michelin PP 2CT's in 180, but a mate goes for Bridgestone BT23's - and he isn't any slower.

I have metzler rensports on at the moment and they will NOT slide from under me. A pity they don`t do them any more , thats why I have gone for the M3`s.

All modern tyres are really good nowadays , it`s just a case of patience waiting for them to warm up. Around 10 to 15 mins easy riding and then start letting it go a bit.

3 big slips with the ones I had. Not going fast 40 to 50mph and ended up on wrong side of road. Good job no cars coming. Last one happened on day I was changing the bike. Wouldn't put them on another bike of mine. No confidence in them

I feel the same with the battle axe ones, had them on the Bandit and always seemed to slide on rounabouts unless I was 2 up......

Wouldn`t do for everybody to like the same

I was pleasantly surprised with the Avon's I had on though. Gave me a lot of confidence. Might plump for a 190 on the next set though if I still have same bike. I reckon with the amount of miles the pilot road 3's should last they might be food for 2 yrs or so.

Just an update on this thread. Had an e-mail from Daniel who fitted my tyre who said he's now contacted the distributers of the tyres who said they've had calls from tyre fitters having problems fitting tyres due to the pickers strapping the tyres together too tight causing the beading to be forced inwards.

After the problems with my tyre he's now gone and bought a high pressure bead breaker so the issue does not happen again with other peoples bikes.

Anyway my reason for restarting this thread is because I'd told Daniel about this site and he must have taken the time to have a look at it and seen my thread about the 180 tyre. Originally my query was because I was interested to find out what size should I have ordered as I know everyone talks about 180's turning in better but I've ridden with both 180's and 190's and can't really notice the difference on road riding. Maybe it'd be different on the track. However, he's seen what people have said and quite understandably has said that he puts 110% into fitting tyres onto bikes and takes considerable care when doing it.

As I said I was happy as punch with the job he did. Did a great job in my books and I'd certainly re-use him. Was friendly, professional, asked me to e-mail him as I was one of the 1st people to have Pilot Road 3's fitted so he could tell other customers what people thought of them. In fact he even took the time out to e-mail and let me know what the distributers said and just mentioned as an end line he'd read the thread and what people have said.

Now I've got quite thick skin and am not bothered what people say to me or about me but I'm a little disappointed that someones read something about themselves on here written by people who don't know the full story and jump to conclusions. Its a good site but I'm just irritated now about how quick some people are to judge others and can say quite unfounded comments.

Rant over now. I'm happy with the service I got. I'd reuse him again as he sells sprockets and chains etc and I'd have no qualms about recommending him to others I ride with. I hope he's still going when I need new tyres again and chain and sprockets. You don't get big chains e-mailing you to update you on issues and I always like to support local businesses

And the best judge of all my little boy thought he was awesome and enjoyed seeing him working on the bike.

You can't give more than 100%.

Bay, I get the impression that some dudes did not read your first thread properly!

Been there & done that. (With the tyres that is)
When the tyre distributer stacks them wrongly it's a job to get the beads to seal.

ps.
he's now gone and bought a high pressure (bead breaker) Tyre Inflator.

Daniel, my apologies mucker, yer sound like yer well above par. :thumbup

Well to be a boring fud mathamatically it is actually possible to reach a figure greater than 100%

Metzeler M5 Interact now scrubbed in, with a 190/55 rear (as before with Michelin's) and it seems to be very good. It grips really well (bit slippery for the first 20yds, ho ho) and feels like it turns in quicker than the previous 2CT I had on. So I'm happy. But as Bat' says, it's all personal preference and at my level I don't think I could tell a great deal of difference between the brands anyway.
