Was having some new tyres fitted yesterday on my bike and the guy had trouble getting the beading to sit on the rim due to
1. He didn't have a high pressure bead breaker in his mobile van
2. Said they might have stacked the tyres wrong
3. Said my rim was more suited to a 190 tyre

In the end he had to take it to ATS for them to put the bead breaker high pressure blast of air into the rim and force the tyre onto the rim. said since he's been fitting tyres for years that its only the 2nd time he's never been able to get a tyre to fit on the rim using normal tyre inflator

Now my Racing has the original Racing rims on there and I was always under the impression they took a 180 as standard. On the swing arm it does say 190 section rear tyre can be fitted.

Any thoughts

i think, your right in saying 180, but it can take a 190..

but saying that, yer mobile mans a twot.

Any thoughts?

Take it proper steady until your new tyres are properly scrubbed in......

g dis twot = fud or jist another fanny that can't do his job.

I give in, let's take it to someone who knows whit they're aboot.

Boy do I hate substandard fekwhits.

OOOOOOOOOOOh the job jist beat me.

I think your old tyre was just a bit of a tight fecker.

I have used 180 section tyres on all our bikes, since the second set, running Oz wheels on the Tuoldo - same as your factory, and on the Gen 2's with the looky-likey Ozalike wheels, whoever they are made by. Never had a problem, and I can remove them with a hand bead breaker.

he got the old tyre off no problem just couldnt get new one to sit on the rim without high blast of air to push the bead onto it.

I think gen 1`s had the 180 as standard but could take the 190 where as the gen 2 had the 190 from start.

I think the 190 is better anyway. It allows the bike to roll from side to side.

No mate - the Tuoldo's came with 190's.

Regards your preference, it's your bike, fit what you like.

180's are a more rounded profile and turn more easily, some have gone to the 190/55 and reckon it's good as well.
IMHO the 180 is excellent and as they are anything up to £20 cheaper I go 180. :)

I stand corrected.............................................

190 for me though. £154 for a pair , Sportec M3`s

did he put a ratchet strap around the circumference of the tyre ?

if no, then....

he's a twot

Do u know what Tifa yes he did do that and he did it up very tight as well and till wouldn't take. He was very careful when fitting it as well checked the book for all torque settings and I was pleased as punch with the service he gave me.

As for Metzlers I wouldn't touch em with a barge pole let alone put them on my bike. Had a bad episode with those on my 1st bike and put me off for a lifetime. ***** tyres in my opinion. I'd rather a set of Avon. They were damn good tyres the Avon storm I fitted on my BMW
