Need a shock...

£250-£300 is the going rate for an RSV Ohlins - hope you find something that suits!

For the standard Ohlins from an 01-03 Mille R, to fit it to a '99 you'll need the later linkage as well.

Just won a linkage on ebay, thankfully. If all goes well I'll get rid of the Maxton shock for cheap, cos it'll need a refurb.

may be interested , which one is it

It's purple, that's all I know. Maxton aren't particularly helpful in my experience, so I'm not keen on spending dosh with them.

I asked for basic settings via email, which they refused to give. That's fine, they're in business to make money, not a charity. So I send photos but they won't tell me what shock I've got. All they'll tell me is how much they charge - £80 for a service plus £50 for a spring to suit your weight.

Surprised to hear that Alan, they have always struck me as being very helpful.

I've always found I can pick up the phone and get to speak to Richard almost immediately, perhaps they are very busy at the moment with competition bikes.

As for settings I believe they keep on record what work they've done to each unit so they can advise settings without being hands on.

For an outlay of £130 for a personally set up ,serviced damper that is probably the staple fare of the majority of club racers and Irish Road racing riders I'm wondering what better you think is available?

They probably do keep records of their settings, but they wouldn't tell me what they were.

I don't know about better equipment, but there's certainly better customer relations available.
