Hi all. I'm new to this forum and in desperate need of help and advise. All of my friends told me not to get an Italian bike or my love hate relationship with it will start. Unfortunately they were right. It took about 3 weeks and then it started. But I want to love my Aprilia again. ( THE PROBLEM IM HAVING) the bike is stuttering and coughing When the bike gets hot. When the fan switchs on I think. If I start my bike from cold and go out for a blast everything runs fine. But I must be very careful where I go and make sure I don't get stuck in traffic as when the temp climbs above 96ish the fans kicks in. This is when all the problems start. This bike stutters coughs bangs ect some times cuts out, it feels like it's running on 1 cylinder And won't let me go open the trottle above 6000rpm without cutting out. Now since this has started, I have changed the generator. But the problem still persists. Put good fuel and fuel cleaner but it still happens. Just changed the battery. Fully charged. But I have noticed when I turn the ignition the battery reads 11.7v. When started the battery reads 12.2-12.7. Even after a good 50 mins blast the battery does not read any more than 12.2v. With ignition on. Some times if I leave the bike running for the fan to kick in. The bike will cut the instant the fans kicks in. Do I need to change the regulator/ rectifier. Also the bike does have a strong smell of fuel after a ride when the coughing and stuttering has happened. Some say fuel pump some say regulator/rectifier. Oh I have also had the side stand switch bypassed. Just got back today and was very lucky to be less then a mile away from home when it started. But I can't take it anymore. It's very dangerous as it happens with out warning and today is my tipping point as I was just over taking a lorry on the opposite side of the road with oncoming traffic in the distance when it coughed and banged and lost power and my heart came through my mouth. Please please please help any advise is good advise. And has anyone had this problem with a 54 plate Aprilia Mille and solved it. Thanks for reading. [
