luv my bike :inlove:inlove:inlove

Very nice Wolf :thumbup

Just out of interest, you being 19 an all, how much was your insurance. My nephew just told me wants a bike and he's going to do his bike test soon. he's 18 with no bike experience :eatcorn

anything from £50,000 (im not joking...) to £500 depending who you ask and what you want £2500 comprehensive was the same as i was quoted when i got my RS50 when i was 16 which is some 14 insurance groups lower than the mille

no claims bonus makes a world of difference when insuring big bikes.. so does age, he might find his choice of bikes limited by licence and insurance... its not easy to find insurers willing to deal with an 18 year old on a modified superbike (yes, having 33bhp restrictors is classed as a performance/major engine modification and you are charged more, not less)

that being said, if there's a will there's a way :thumbup

although... you need to be mature enough to not be a total maniac, most people see young riders as lunatics who ride little 2 strokes with crazy loud exhausts wishing they could go as fast as rossi, dont let your nephew become a statistic because he wanted to show off his flash bike to all his m8s infront of tescos, im a very careful rider and dont usually take risks which is probably the only reason i ride a mille and havent killed myself yet

the restrictions on young riders licences are there for good reason, though i hate the restrictions i do understand they need to be there!

Cheers mate :thumbup he was thinking of going for a cbr600 but I told him to think a little lower till he gets some NCB under his belt, maybe a RS250 or Honda hornet, lovely bikes but the insurance would be much cheaper :dunno

Shaking head, sorry Milleboy, another way of saying tank slappers :thumbup Wolf posted a couple of weeks back about a steering damper as he was having some problems with the front end dancing lock to lock style and I just wondered how he was getting on.

yes it turned out a few adjustments to the front suspension made them alot less crazy thanks!, i have been more concerned with having someone pull out infront of me while riding fast and finding my front brake was about as ***** as the rear

they only pulled out because the braking obvioulsy made the lights on bike look like i was flashing them... was a bugger to find the front brake so screwed up when needed, only person to blame for the situation was me :jack

turns out there was enough air to fill a hot air baloon in the master cylinder on front brake :dowhat bled the rear out good aswell so i have 2 great brakes again and can enjoy the insane tank slappers :biggrin

He could probably get one of the older cbr 600s insured ok, the less sporty edition will obviously be cheaper than the RR lol, i was originally intending to get an rs250, gorgeous bikes and probably a more sensible step up for me... but somehow what was thought to be impossible turned out could be done and i got the mille, i do remember got some silly quotes when looking at rs250s though..

Encourage him to dream and enjoy admiring the bikes he really wants, but show him whats realistic to and whatever you do... dont encourage anything scooter like :puke

Good luck to him, hope he gets nice bike and rides safe :thumbup

Sprocker, there's also the new Ninja 250 with Yamaha and others soon to follow suit! Remember having a great time on my GT 250 Suzuki when I was 17. As I recall it was supposed to be 30 - 33bhp and it was certainly fast enough at 17!!

those new ninjas look good but they cannot be derestricted is what i dont like... and the less bikes you have to buy the better... reselling can cost you a fortune and 33bhp is plenty fast.. for a while... after 2 years you will be :rant and be rather fed up of looking fast and going slow, no matter what you say at the start.....

Nice bike Wolf.
A level head on young shoulders. Nice to see.
Take care buddy :thumbup

insurance is funny,i havent rode for 5years since my new r1 got nicked and i lost my ncb,so starting again,i was worried about taking the mille on,but got it fully comp for £380,with no ncd or alarm/imob.
spose a garage and holding a lisence for 8 years helps.
luvly bike mate and you sound a very decent smart young man.
hat off to you mate,as you say the tesco/spar warriors give you guys a bad name, everyones not the same!

thanks for the comments guys
and insurance is definitely random lol
