Just had new tyres put on the bike (Metzeler M5 Interact), the sun's shining, it's a beautiful day for a ride on dry roads to scrub in the rubber - pull out of the Aprilia dealership and whooooaaahhh! what the fffffk!! and over she goes on a low side.

Here's the damage:-

As you can see the R&G's saved the day. The only damage is a bent rear brake pedal
(£25, fitted - shop staff were as gutted as me - they love my bike as well); scuffed rear can.

Got off pretty lightly.

Money well spent on the R&G's :thumbup

sorry to see you broke yer bike pal, but at least your ok.

i wonder what caused the slide?

Eek! :eek Sorry to hear that mate but thank gawd for R&G's eh?

A mate of mine was sitting on my bike last year and because he's only about 2'6" and the bike was on gravel, well you can imagine what happened...(actually it was pretty funny to watch!) Thankfully R&G's saved mine too (phew!)

Here's an excerpt from an email they sent me after I enquired about replacement bungs:

Many thanks for your email.

Please note that we may not be able to answer your email immediately - please do not assume that this means we do not care - we will respond as soon as we can and we aim to do this within 72 hours

R&G Racing receives hundreds of emails a day and we try to manage these and provide responses as quickly as possible. In an attempt to help reduce the response time for answering your queries, we have compiled a list of common questions and answers (Q&A’s) below. Please take some time to read these Q&A’s to see if your enquiry is immediately answered by any of them.

1. Can I order replacement parts for my crash protectors or do I need to buy a complete new kit?
Replacement parts are available from your local R&G stockist/dealer or direct from ourselves. If you wish to order direct from ourselves you will need to call our Sales Team to place an order on +44 (0)870 220 6380.

I reckon you may be able to replace the can strap band thingy and maybe polish out the damage to the can itself? (Or fit R&G bits to the cans aswell!?)

Slippery new tyres on a dry but slippery road. Annoying thing is I knew it would be so was being careful as well!!

Years ago, my brother (mechanic) fitted new tyres to my ZXR750. He rode it away from the workshop as I followed behind in the car and as he turned right into the road...

We didn't have R&G's in those days. I don't have much luck with other people on my bikes!!! :no

Sorry to hear about the mishap dude

thanks the lord for R&G. They'll supply solely the replacement parts you need. A mate of mine had a prang a couple of years back and they supplied a whole set of replacements if they could publish details of his accident (and how their bungs helped) on their website

Not the cheapest around but definately worth it. Good folk :thumbup

Gutted for you. But that's all the damage I received when I slid about 20 yards on mine. Seriously, them R&G's are the bizzo. The bar ends are ace too.

Cheers everyone, I feel like I'm in some sort of counselling session! Makes me feel a whole lot better! :thumbup

Sparky, I've just ordered those rear can wotsits from R&G. Hopefully get some replacement bungs as well, as I did just e-mail them.

Get the bar ends if you've not already. They're pretty long and work well. Look pretty snazzy too.

Good move fitting that carbon patch behind the gear lever. Many owners have had similar low speed off's and had a hole punched through the cast portion of the frame by the gear lever - resulting in an insurance write off. :eek

Once you know exactly which bits are broken - remember to check all the bolts are straight etc. ring R&G up direct, you can buy any individual piece, saves a fortune on kit prices.

Hate to say it Maldroid, but is that a chicken strip I can see on the rear tyre...?

Only kidding, only kidding!

No, Garry. Dealer thought it might be a good idea when I bought the bike. Crystal ball?!

Just bought a sheet of carbon cut a bit out and stuck it on, Rusty.

Yons a ******* aboot yer off M min. Jist fitted full set R&Gs mesel this week and away tae get a new rear hoop the morn as weel. So guess ahl be hyper hyper canny wi it!

Looks like the wee carbon sheet mod is another wee fettle tae add tae oor lists if it gives a bitty better protection as weel
