Yet another bod who had trouble starting this morning. Bike is always hooked up to the Optimate but didn't wanted to turn over very fast this morning. Rather than knackering the sprag I took a quick trip to the battery shop for a Varta YTX-14BS and she started straight away :devious. Had a struggle to fit the battery though. Apart from the slightly taller dimensions the negative lead would barely reach the terminal. Still looking at a way to modify the clamp so I'm managing without for now but theres no chance of the battery going anywhere.

Thanks Legs. Compared to some of the starting problems posted recently I feel that I've got off light!!

Lucky ******* :biggrin

I am loadin my shotgun right now...so my bike is in trouble.

I agree with you mate, lightly being the operative word too.

Continuous cranking of the engine frags the sprag clutch, as does poorly charged batteries.

I can see a pattern developing here in that batteries do not appear to last that long on RSV's.

Saying that, just looked at my battery stamp date and it says August 2004. WOW, that's done pretty well.

Guess what I'll be buying very soon?

I must have the best built mille in the world, leave it standing for 3 weeks, go to start it, fires first time, shame its covered in scratches lol.

You can bet your last Dollar as soon as you get all your scratches sorted you'll start having mechanical and electrical issues.

My advice, leave it all scratched up. LOL

Will be doing too, track it till it blows up I think :thumbup

Think you'll find that the YTX14-BS Westco Motorcycle Battery 12V 14Ah
(12V14-B) is pretty much the best you can get.

Put it one way, I will be replacing my battery very soon and it will be with one of these.
