What mods can be done to increase the BHP to the rear wheel, and what is a good figure to aimfor.
Obviously a full system, but what else, is there an airbox mod, or earthing mod worth looking at

Flapper mod is meant to increase bhp by 2 to 3bhp and it only takes about 20 seconds to do!! After that it's airbox and PC3..........The best mod I have done doesn't increase bhp but definately increases the rideability and that was to drop to a 15t front sprocket.

don't know about the older bikes but 04 onwards..

Flapper mod as said about 20secs to do...
Cans/Map2....deffo worth it
airbox kit....
in terms of performance theres not much between either the Evo kit, the Homer ewe Kit or the Renegade kit....(I've had all three)
I prefer the Renegade kit due to intake noise alone...Oh yeah !:thumbup
PC3 is OK...so long as you have a custom map made for YOUR bike...
the generic maps are fine and a good ball park setting but you really need to have some quality dyno time to get the most....
anything over 130BHP is good, my own graph shows 138RWHP but the Dyno reads high in comparison to others so take that with the proverbial pinch of salt... but it's deffo MUCH better than stock.

15T front and 42/43T rear is excellent....

I just installed the new air box, new cans are on the way, 15t sprocket to be installed, and map 2 once cans are on. But what is the flapper mod?

I'm getting a new rear sprocket this week so what size would you suggest, a 42 or 43?
If I went with the 43 would I also require a new chain, I dont really want to go to that expense as the bike has only covered 2k!
My only other thought is if I use the existing chain with a larger rear sprocket will it make the wheelbase too short as it will pull the rear wheel forwards?

there is a flap which opens and shuts in the nose intake, it's shut below a certain RPM/Speed threshold, then it opens up....
it's not been provedn conclusivley but the genral consensus is that it's purely a noise reg device to get it thru homologation...
most people disconnect the vacuum hose which controls it to leave it permenantly open.
trace the hose that fits the solenoid on the side of the duct (behind the front fairing), remove the hose, plug the end of it with a bolt....job done...
and of course you can simply re-attach it if you desire to make it OE again !:thumbup

Scotty, I've fitted a 42 rear with no problems on the stock chain, I've done 6000 miles plus tho...
with you having a 15T front I dont think you'll have any problems with it, as for handling, so long as it's in the chain adjustment marks, you should have no problems at all...:biggrin

Hi everyone! New here but not new to Aprilias.

Go 15/42....

How much was the supercharger mod vr-8? you must be one of very few people in the world with a charged RSV

Hola. I did this mod a couple of months ago and put a 43T on the rear. You can keep the stock chain, JUST, but it does still fit. I do likey it a lot. Allows me to keep the front down as and when i like. Still raises the front in second on power, but to a much more manageable level. Basically i'm a chicken ****. Want the front in the air, add the 15T to the front.

$$/bhp is not matched by any other tuning way. The s/ch is around 2000EUR but that is the most expensive part on it, the rest injectors/hoses/brackets etc are not big money. The problem is to get the drive frome the engine.

I've checked on the Renegade site mate and cant find anything about the airbox for the 04 onwards. I was looking at the Homer one but its pricey. How much was you for the Renegade one, and what does it look like? Cheers

I would sit down and ask myself a few questions first before just taking the bike apart. What are you using the bike for. What kind of HP gains are you wanting.

hi all i have an 03 rsv mille, just wondering if there are any easy & relativley cheap mods to crank out a few extra ponies??

MM

I raced for Renegade on the RSVR and it was fast! They used thier own air kit and exhaust. Tuning done by Southern Cross and it was about 150+ bhp!

My 2006 is putting out 138 with Acro Pipes and Evo Air box.

I have been looking at the "Rapid Bike 3" System instead of the PC3 as it can change fuel injection, the ignition advance and easier to plug in a quick shifter.. Works out much cheaper and is giving just as good if not better results than PC3. The only thing is that Dynojet have such a big set up all over the country.

I might try this Flapper mod thing.. Anyone ever had any problems with it on a 2006 model?

you've nowt to loose as even if it does run funny (i've not heard of any that run bad) you can just plugf the vacuum hose back in to re-activate it
