Right I was getting a little frustrated today so I thought I would pull open the RSV Mille 99 to see what may have been done.

First off I checked the cable going to the ecu, yep it had been cut.

Next step while I was at the ecu I disconected it, it has previously been opened.
I took a pic and it has an eprom with A63. Can someone tell me what eprom this is?

From there I decided to open the airbox, another nice supprise, K&N sat there.

So I thought I would remove there airbox and not sure what kind of restrictor could be or could have been there but I cannot find any kind of restriction at all.

Also thought I would measure the throttle intakes and they were aprox 51mm.

Just wondering if all the mods have been done?

What eprom is in my ecu and is it worth changing it?

Um, well have I left anthing out? comments please....

Ahhh cr@p, looks like I got a standard eprom, BUT it's running on the second map.

Right would there be much difference in changing the eprom?
What one should I look for?
Does anyone hear program them?
How much should it cost me, I have seen them on ebay for about £20 but how do I know what they are?

Sorry for all the questions, just another newbie.

Pretty sure it's the orginal too, if it is, leave it in as they are hard to improve on without dedicated maps and it's running the derestricted map with the wire being cut anyhow. The next route if you want more torque and a little more power is a power commander and dedicated map. Don't even think about the ones on ebay fella

Could do, but I thought that with the exhaust, filter & airbox it would have been better or a big improvement.

You've got the best chip running the derestricted map so all good there. The K&N offers nothing in terms of performance increase, it just means you won't have to replace the air filter so often. The throttle bodies are also standard. If you haven't already done it ditch the standard exhaust for an Akrapovic or Arrow can, drop to a 15 tooth front sprocket or fit 16/44 with a 110 link chain, maybe fit a renegade or Evo airbox, then get a dedicated PC111 map :thumbup

Thats ok, all sound's good, the bike came with an MRS exhaust witch is loud and am happy with.

Is there any reason why some people go down on the front sprocket size and not up on the rear instead because my thought is going up on the rear will take up chain lenth and no need to shorten it.

Factory Pro makes a ripping chip for the bike. They are one of the few that change the timing map, all other chips use the stock Aprilia timing curves and just add extra fuel, including any Aprilia performance chip. The PCIII softens the delivery of the engine since it causes a slight delay in fuel deliver to process what it is interupting from the ECU.

Not quite sure what you mean there fella but fitting a 15 tooth front sprocket is going 2 teeth down from the standard gearing on your 1999 RSV. Fitting a 16 tooth front and 44 tooth rear is going one tooth down on the front from standard and 2 up on the rear from standard. You have to fit a 110 link chain for this set up to fit though. Most people do this when it's time for new chain and sprockets.
