mode switch gen 2

the problem still persists .

I have over the wikend , stripped and cleaned the bar switch and checked continuity back to the block conn under the tank, cleaned the 2 block conn,s under the tank .

inspected the loom right back to the ucu and found a couple of potential rub thru points near the rear cyl head , that I have packed with anti vibe foam rubber packing .

had the fairing off and checked the loom up to the clocks and checked continuity from the connector under the tank to the connector at the clocks , all ok .

had the battery out and checked all the fuses and the loom feeding the fuse box.

ive had all the plastics off the watertank side of the bike and checked every connector inc the brown one and the loom .

still not found anything to cause a problem .

the loom seems very tight in places and ideally should have been packed with anti rub/vibe rubber packers at build.

not sure now where the fault lies seems to be more like component failure .

I have found out that the clocks have been modded with a small hole drilled in the bottom of the case at the front for venting, whether this has any bearing on the issue I don't know

I have always had a problem accessing the mode settings and just assumed that it was the switch on the handle bar, as last time I had problems it responded well to being sprayed with wd40 .
not the case this time tho .

any further help would be appreciated don't realy want to lash out £163 for a replacement h/bar switch only to find its not that !!

Wiring faults can be an absolute ******* to find,...some of them never do get found. These modern systems where everything is controlled by the ecu dont help.Is it the wiring,...a component,..or,(gulp!)..the ecu?
Is it just the mode switch not working?
Do you get the 'SERVICE' warning triangle?
You said you got the APMT0025 code on the clocks,....is this displayed all the time?
That usually means the ecu is not receiving a signal from something, like a component or the clocks.
Sorry if I'm raking over old ground,...just trying to understand what is/is not happening.

Just a thought,...my old Ducati 999 threw up the orange light of death.Turned out to be a loose pin in a connector block. The bloody thing was pushed together ok,but one pin was barely touching the female part.At first inspection, everything looked fine and dandy.Looked at it again, and I could see the pin didnt look right.Might be something like that.

APMT0025 only comes on occasionly when refitting battery and sometimes when using a slave battery ( read as car battery with fly leads fitted ) for simplicity of discon/re con
never seen this until now so I don't think this is realy part of the issue

the only time the red triangle has been visible is when I,d got the ign on and a couple of block conn,s dis conn,d

as you say GULP prices £2200 -- ecu £ 750. loom --- £500 clocks ---- £163 h/bar switch

with prices like these its easy to see why they get written off for a little bit of cosmetic damage !!!!

the little rubber covered mode scroll switch works fine on trip 1 and trip 2, which is a bummer as its this that causes all other peeps probs and is a piece ,o piss to cure

looks like tank up again and check continuity thru the block connector for sloppy pins like your problem keith.

if this continuity check throws up no answers, ive now got the bike booked into c and a super bikes in k/l as im visiting a mate in the midlands next week end .

c and a recon it should be visible if there is a fault when its connected up to their axone diagnostics .

fingers l crossed all 12 of em ( I live in naarfuck but not from !! )( an in joke) this will sort it and hopefully cheaply too .

Had the bike on the diagnostic tool at the dealer in kings lynn sat am . no faults no errors . the upshot is the rubber covered micro switch is bolloxed .
it will work periodically , got some elec contact cleaner , sprayed that in thru the rubber boot and it don't work at all now . bollox .
new switch required , all £175 worth .
seeing as its fooked I may try to splice in an after market waterproof micro switch under the bar switch.

I,ll update when im brave enough to completely wreck the switch and when ive come to terms with spending am extorsionate £175.

Mine's now acting up asweil, just got the bike to run all day without the service light coming on.

I guess it's got to throw something back at yer.

Whit,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,like it's the curse of Gilos lab.

cheers Felix , the rsv switches dont have the trip / mode switch function . thanks nice try tho and cheap too at £20

the little rubber covered push button is fed by 2 wires and is a momentary micro switch , ive looked at loads on e bay and drawn a blank .

however I have bought a kil switch button and housing for a *on"a cbf 125 . it looks quite tidy in a neat little housing and is 20mm wide and is fed by 2 wires .
it is a click on/off so that will have to be modified , but at 20mm wide it should just fit between the existing switch gear and the clutch /mirror bracket with a bit of jiggling .

pics will be posted when its on and hope fully working . the only down side is that I will have soiled my priller with a bit of anonda !!:yes

right then .
now i,m realy well and truly ****** off with this .i bought a very tidy looking *onda switch , cut off the rubber switch and spiced in the *onda switch and it worked a treat but still would not let me into the settings menus.
i was very very lucky to look on e bay at just the right time , a left hand switch unit from a 2800 miles old v2t had been listed just minutes before . so i hit buy it now for the princely sum of £ 35 fookin bargain.
switch now fitted every thing works can scroll thru menus on trip 1 and 2 but still cannot get into settings mode .
while the bike was at the dealers t, other week there had been no errors stored or any other anomally on the ecu .
so im at a total loss now and realy pissed off with it .
if anyone has any thoughts on this dont hesitate to post replys

and yes i do know how the procedure goes as ive read the hand book several times , just to check the problem me being a **** !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! . well i am a **** for wanting a fookin sat nav on the bike int, first place .

FFS what a pain in the arse!I know the frustration of Italian electrics.
Must be a wiring fault,...or something.

thought id better update this thread as i does have a happy ending of sorts !! --- after a 10 day hurl round the scottish highlands and islands , i thought id wash the bike . well fook me rigid the mode switch now works . still not got to the root of the prob but as soon as the bike gets wet the mode switch functions perfectly .

so everytime i want to fook about in the diagnostic mode i,ll have to wash the bike --- i suspect the clocks actually like a bit of condensation !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!:yes

Did you ever sort it out? I got my brand new Tuono 2014 - and have the identical problem. Mode switch worked for a few minutes and now doesn't work at all. WTF.

V4 -like felix sez at least you have a warranty .

my original problem has not been cured , ive lost the will to live , where the mode switch is concerned . my mot is due soon so i,ll wash the bike just before i take it in as like i said before when clocks and switches get wet all things seem to work like a dream . ho hum such is life .
