Hello. I have a 2002 mille which is currently at a aprilia dealers in for a service. I took it in with no issues, now i have recieved a call from them stating they have finished the work on it but it wont start! Wonderfull.
So, i always keep the bike on a optimate and they say 12v is coming from the battery, so dont think its a dead battery or solinode gone. Apparently they are turning the key and nothing happens, no fuel pump prime sound. Lights all work but nothing on the button.
I have a metta alarm / imobilizer fitted... Ive never had any problems with it but am aware others have with theirs. When they are pressing the fob the indicators arnt flashing as they should when arming / disarming. New batterys in the fob so thats not it.
Any idears?
Seems the imobilizer is stuck on for some reason. Cant see whey this has happend if the battery is ok, unless they disconnected it for some time or something.
The chip has been changed recently, if it came loose would this cause these symptoms?
Its a pain in the arse and i dont want to be paying for it as it was fine when i took it in. If anyone can offer advise or suggestions for me to relay to them it would be much appreciated.
Regards, Simon.

What alarm is it? I posted the pinouts for the 357t a while back.. hateful things alarms are!

What sort of Aprilia dealer does that
You took it in there running & they've ****** something up, you should'nt have to go on forums trying to find out what's wrong.

Absolutely, what kind of mechanics are they? Tell em to get it sorted, and gratis!

I hear you! Its been confirmed that the battery was unplugged for some time, so the meta has imobalized the bike. School boy error. It seems that us gen1 owners know more about them than the mechanics at aprilia.

I'd be looking for them to be covering the cost of getting it sorted too if I were you. However the info should at least get it running. Also be aware that the backup battery in the alarm unit might have failed with age and the battery being out has killed it properly. It's a take it out and bin it job when that happens... circa £160 to replace it!

Thanks for all the help so far, i have had an update that the pinouts have worked and the bike now runs again. I am unsure what would be the best option now, remove the alarm compleatly and risk no further troubles, get it replaced or leave it as it is?
If left bypassed by the pinouts, is that a perminant fixture, could it ever cause anymore grief?
Ive also been told the battery was unplugged for around an hour. How can i check as mentioned in the above post if it has failed compleatly and its therefore a bin it job?
Idealy i want a working alarm on the bike as thieves have had a go for it once before, although if its likely to cause more issues after this then im prepared to bin it.

I have a datatool alarm on mine and short of removing it I'd suggest setting it to ferry mode
The yellow wire that comes from the alarm unit needs to be earthed ( neg battery terminal )
This cured a whole load of issues for me
Think ill remove it over the winter tho as £50 for a harness of of eBay makes sense and is easy

Good news mate, glad it worked :)

I managed to get mine up and running again after leaving it unplugged for a few days and once plugged back in it beeped and started working again. Lonbg and short is that it does sound like the internal battery is up the spout.

If you're going to replace it this is the only direct replacement unit that I've seen :)
