First of all I appreciate everyone who helped me with fixing my baby I finally made the right decision to store my bike at my friends Shop because I have beat up spark plugs which is a sign off beat up crank bearings so I decided to possibly swap the motor out from another Aprilia or another bike.. I know that the Tuono looks like it has the same motor can someone give me cross reference for my 2000 Mille RSV? I'm planning on buying another motor for the summer since I will need a car for my daughter until then. thank you :) :pirate

PS when I'm buying a motor,(prolly from a totalled bike) what should I be looking for? thanks again

I believe any engine from a 1998 -2003 RSV will fit and use all the auxilary's without modiifcation. (Except for the SP, Haga & Edwards Reps)

The Falco has differant power delivery characteristics to the RSV but the engine should still fit.

My 2 bucks worth............................

I think the falco has a different exhaust set up so you'll need mods to clear the linkage on a mille.

You need an engine out of a 2001 -> RSV, they have bigger valves and perform better.

Should be a straight forward swap around.

Hey SY. Sorry to hear about your mechanical maladies. Hope you get it back on the road soon.

if ya get the engine number of new one i can check the list to see if its an early or late one

so do you recommend "shoe horning" a motor in there? how hard and how tight is it without major modification? Is the falco modification hard can someone post some pictures please? I want to ride my baby so bad~ I have been practicing on 10 inch bump stoppies at by my friends garage. lol I want some horses in that thing!

A guy in France has shoe horned a 2004 rsv engine into a 2000 rsv.

I came back to type the engine number oh well I just realized that I have my engine number handy crap! I have to get that number. I willl be back please hang in there, I'm going through bunch of crap at this moment and a month ago I became Bi-*******-Polar at the court house Oh God Bless America and California! lol

So what's the difference between Falco and RSV in characteristics? Can I also use a Futura motor in my 2000 RSV mille ? thanks

the falco doesnt rev as well as a mille motor, different cams & the gear change works the other way, your exhaust will fit it though

I found the eng # 692968
2000 mille. I hope it's the 01 motor. can someone tell ?

P.s. I got it off of the Registration. So it's the last 6 digits. :)

falco engine is exactly the same as an 98-00 mille engine except the gearbox is reversed

superyellow

get the full letters & numbers that are stamped on the crankcase please and i'll check

Would an 04 motor fit my 00 Mille RSV without heavy modifications? can I use the same ECU? thanks

It fits, the mounting points are the same, but you need the newer ecu and mod the exhaust to fit, or use a new type swingarm(modded afcorse).

Theres a topic on this on the af1 forum

I've just bought a set of rims from a guy who also has a later style engine for sale if anybody is looking for one.

I think I can work around the exhaust problem, my bike is at my friends garage and he got a welder so could fabricate an adapter for my big mono exhaust. Is it possible to make my 2000 ECU and the Dash work for the 2004 motor? do I have to change the dash is I change the ECU? I just need the bike running, I could get the ECU changed later. thanks

I got $500 and need a motor for local pick up in California.

P.S. Thank your very much, Cheesy and Dolenc for your help

Whilst I know from previous times Mr Superyellow that you love a bit of adventure when it comes to repairs.....i'd recommend you stick with sourcing a 98-00 or 01-03 engine and steer clear of 04+ engines (you'll definately need the ecu or an alternative aftermarket set up).

Keep it simple....remind me what happened to the last engine and why? :devious :laugh :thumbup

so 04 motor + 04 ECU = vroom vroom ? can I use my 2000 dash with the 2004 motor and ECU combo? or should I borrow Allan's shiny and sexy black Ape? hehe cuz my date wants me to give her the ride of her life! otherwise :jack
is the 2004 Dash same as the 2000 dash two LCDs on each side and the analog RPM gauge in the middle. oh my dash is like a nerds dash.
lol
